cool im about 15 mins away i work in rotherham i live in goldthorpe, I am aiming for olympic dragons maybe afew novice comps b4 hand but thts the main one i am goin up to watch it this year very excited about it

Nice 1, I'm planning for uk strong man north novice next year, can't wait! might have a look at some other novice events if i get chance to.

WEEK 1 DAY 2 LIGHT

Deadlift 90x9/110x8/130x8--- felt i could've pushed for more

Chin up on assisted 19x7/12x3/19x4----Just don't know what happened here! really struggled, might look at doing lat pull downs on next light session. Utter s**t!

Goodmorning 60x8/60x8/60x8---didn't want to push back too much on this one

Power Curl EZ bar 20x8/30x8/30x8

Hammer Curl 16x8/18x6+2/18x6+2----The +2 was cheat reps

Superset Standing Cable Crunch 31.5x12/35x12/42x12
Cable Shrug 45.5x12--Went to dumbells after this one
DB shrug 46x8/50x8

Another decent session, did go in feeling strong, but not as i expected, still very early days though!

Alright pal, if your looking at doing your first strongman comp next year I'd def look at competing in the Severn valley first timers comp. It's a bit lighter than novice, well run and a well organised comp. This will then give you a good intro into strongman. I did it this year and have caught the strongman " bug".

Light week day 3

A very funny one here, i was warming up doing deep and wide stance squats and ripped my shorts!!! had to go put works trousers on ha ha ha. Must say though on sets i did, i took a closer stance to make sure i didn't rip my trousers, and i felt a lot stronger and my squat technique was the best i've done so far!!!

Back Squat 80x8/90x8/11x8

DB Step Up 16kg did 3 sets of 12 reps each leg, (good cardio substitute i find!)

Leg Extension 45x10/65x10/85x9/105x7

Smith Machine Calf Raises ( standing on end of bench for more R.O.M) 60x12/60x12/80x12 Calfs on fire!!!!!

Barbell Grip 40=Right 42secs,Left 35sec/70=R17,L14/80=R28,L2.5

Leg Curl 75x10/85x10/95x8
Superset Side Bend 32x10/32x12/32x12

Good Session in all, and back to wearing my 3 quaters for training in ha ha

Had mock style 3xevent session today, got beat 2-1 by moose ;-( I'll get him next week!!

Squat for single, 110,140,160,170 PB! this was the only one i won

Rope pull 68kg 23 pulls in 75 secs

Crucifix hold 5kg for 44secs

Then just to finish legs for the week we did 3 sets of 10 barbell lunges each leg.

Now i know these weights are pitifull for most of the guys on here, but gotta start some where, and got to improvise as i have a lack of equipment for event trainig.

Thats all the training for this week!! Its back to heavy lifting, and i can't wait!!

i have the same problem but its quite fun makin events in the gym wi just dumbells etc max one arm bumbell overhead is a good one and max deads will help for ur strongman aswell gratz on the 170 squat good pb tht

Cheers matey, next week think it might be 3 lifts on deadlift, clean then press for reps, then something for grip

Start of heavy WEEK 2 DAY 1

Bench 80x3/90x3/100x3/110x3/115=FAIL/110x3

Fly 18x6/20x5/22x3

Clean then Strict Press for reps 30x4/40x3/50x3/60x3/70x3/80=FAIL/75x1+2

Tricep Dip (assisted)19x6/12x8 (unnassited)6/8/6
Superset
DB Side Bend 32x12/32x12/32x12

Not happy with benchUnhappy got the 110 easy, but the 115 just wouldn't budge, think i'm going to do DB bench on light weeks to strengthen staibalisers

The +2 on shouders was a little push press, and my first ever mini jerk!!!

Apart from that had a decent workout, going to aim for a full set of unnassisted dips on machine, also another PB on shoulders.

Any tips on benching would be gratefully appreciated as 2 weeks ago i failed after 110kg.

Kneeled Cable crunch 28x12/35x12/38.5x12
Superset
DB Shrugs 48x6/48x6/48x6

Not too happy on deadlift, my grip was shocking, couldn't get bar off ground!!!! was tempted to go get straps

Enjoyed session, had a bit of a rush on though after deadlifts cause was a little short for time, but still moving forward so thats a plus point
