i will try to explain to you what i mean by fitness- if in a competition for example the farmers run.......if it is a 110 for 20 metres, 140 for 10 metres,160 for 10 metres, goose will do 140 for 25m and a 260 leg press in between 160 for 25m with a 350kilo leg press and a 160 kilo farmers run again with a 400 kilo leg press. then drag the chain and anchor and pyramid between the legs,,, all this on the same night then go home and run 2 miles. Goose done the balls tonight 100kilo ball, 110, 120,130, 140,150,160,and 180balls.. 3 minute break then twice over again. THATS WHAT I CALL FITNESS!!!! So at the end of the competition when the balls comes goose is never tired... thats why we do a gym of sets only never ones.. that why when i hear people talking about doing singles i always wonder why?? where is the fitness in singles. strongman is all about power and fitness.

I understand what you mean, and will be trying to increase my work capacity over the winter

HOWEVER, NOBODY else in Scotland is capable of that sort of insanity!

it's not insanity it's the difference between a winner and somebody who wants to take part for fun!

Sorry to butt in but this is a copout.
Some people are gifted, yes, but in 6 months you could be every bit as fit and capable as that dude (or thereabouts, I understand he's the top dog). It depends on your training methods and your priorities in training, BUT what it comes down to is a will to win and the will being strong, and having a strong mental aspect. People can make all sorts of excuses why they can't do what someone else is doing, but the people doing them are not.
Don't take this badly, use it as motivation!

I get where you are comin from, and I will be employing some of those things, and have with Drew commissioned a Prowler for industrial strength, which I will hammer

What I meant is, Goose hardly trains for 40 WEEKS of the year, then can come back in the gym and do s**t like that, most people could not do that

Arnold only did 2 sets of concentration curls 3 weeks out from the Olympia.
Bruce Lee could punch you and you'd die 3 years later.
I shagged Beyonce last week straight after Kelly Brook.

It's a lot more than doing some Prowler work mate, it's all in the mind. But good stuff on the Prowler!
