2 of the comps i am down to do have max log in them, maybe its a british thing?

I know in the US we rarely see them. At the 105kg level it is usually a 120 or 130 log for reps or an axle for reps or some sort of pressing medley.

Weights in pounds...

I took it easy today, nothing too heavy since I was still pretty stiff from events.

Strict press/ pullup superset
225 for 2 and 3 pullups, did this for 8 sets with 30 seconds rest per set

Hammer strength deadlift/ key press superset
used 3 plates per side on the deadlift and the dumbells were 60, 70, 80, and 90. did 3 explosive pulls on the dead and 5 paused reps with the press, 30 sec rest between sets.

finished with some pumping exercises and some rope skipping for conditioning.

Thanks man! I think my body really likes the volume over other methods out there. I am going to have some fun with it in my next workout doing a super set of front squats and deadlifts.

The volume I think is a great approach for strength in strongman. Everyone goes out and tries to get these new max pb's, but they are forgetting that it is not powerlifting and the biggest squat doesn't necessarily mean a win in an event (unless of course it is a max squat). So I stopped striving for a bigger max in all my events and instead picked weight I either thought would be commly seen weights in a strongman contest or something that challenges me but I can do a whole lot of and I just beat the hell out of them. Seems to be working so far.

Use it to get farther than where you left off dude!

Had a really good one today despite being so tired. I was moved to night shift this week because we had no experienced people on the shift. I am so dead come morning time that I almost fall asleep on the way home. Yuck!

On to the workout! Weights in pounds...

Warm up with some light lifting and skipping rope.

Front squat and hammer strength deadlift (not sure why I used the machine today, it just looked fun)

worked up to 365 for 1 and 5 plates per side on the dead for 3, did 8 sets with 40 seconds rest with these weights.

hammer strength incline DE press. Used bands on this and added quite a bit of pressure at the top on this one. only used a 45 and a 25 on each side, but with the bands it really worked well. Did 10 sets of 2 with 30 sec rest.

Finished with some reverse lunges and a bunch of pumping exercises. Also did abs and tabata exercise bike and skipping rope. I am spent!!!

Thanks broski! I am feeling really strong at the moment, but I am not going to be pushing any max lifts for a while. I think I am going to work the volume hard for a while and really work on my conditioning and see where I end up. I think it will work out nicely. Thanks for checking in on the log.

Peace and chicken grease!

I will try and do that. I just found my camera so this should be easy enough.

The squat was on a machine so it is, although still heavy, much easier. The log stopped at 150 I was told.

Guys in the US are putting up some serious weight though man. I am sure there are a couple of dudes, one being Beau Gertz, that can hit 170 in the log. Deadlifting I would say we are huge. I know Kirk Nowack has hit 386kg, Mike Johnston has hit about the same, and I know of at least 7-8 guys in the 320 area. Myself and Max Pippa have pulled over 335 beltless. Hope that helps a bit.
