Considering I am knackered, and spent nearly an hour sitting on the A666 while police and ambulance dealt with (I have seen claimed) a jumper, I'm pleased with how well this went. Kept my shirt on, for the first time in quite a while.

This is on the new, plate-loading press/bench machine. Normally on a plate loader I count empty as 20, like a bar, but here that felt wrong somehow, so I'm counting it as zero. Weights do feel pretty directly comparable to the old Viking press counted like that. Equally, 30 in this is a lot heavier than 30 total as a barbell, I reckon. Doesn't matter, is all about progress vs self. On which note, bench ticked up another tiny notch.

Finally the squats felt heavy again. Which is not that surprising, having put 35kg on them in fairly short order.

Very, very excited for the new pull-down machine, due tomorrow. The club is unrecognisable from five years ago, and hugely better for it. I'm very grateful to those doing the work (not, I must stress, me).

Went for weights on the new machine that felt similar to the old machine, but hard to calibrate because I was so tired. I will try this again, but I think I prefer the old machine for this. Gonna love this one for pulldowns, though.

Another four hours of table tennis yesterday (1-3, 7-9). Looks like I might be playing local league this year, which is unexpected (I was quietly targeting the season after). Nothing today, which is just as well, I'm f**ked.

Due to Stuff I unexpectedly ended up training early (3pm) and full of food (three burgers and a hot dog), which made my usual fast volume work... inadvisable. So I seized the excuse to do some singles. I was quietly hoping for a 140 but did not frankly expect it. My tracker estimated a 130 single. The last time I loaded over 105, or did fewer than 8 reps, was in the Before Times.

It seems pretty clear that (a) my training is holding onto strength well, despite not being designed for it, and (b) with a small peaking routine a 160 is there. I'm surprised and delighted. I last took 150 in April 2019.
