Got a lot of work on at the moment but I'll bung a video up later if I get chance.

Doe's this work involve manipulating Human genetics to build a superpowered turbo respiratory system and testing it on yourself?

If so its doing great.

It doesn't feel like it's working sometimes Tongue I'll put the new tekkers up jt, just might be a day or two.

Mild doms today for I think the first time from the C2, lower / mid back. I took my pulse just before bed yesterday and it was 60, it would usually be about 45 Eek I think the double 1 min max stuffed me Grin Tried to do the new tekkers today when I could, 5 minutes or so to start with then switch, then for a couple of minutes at a time. Overall distance pretty similar to the last few weeks with a slightly slower first set and slightly faster last set.

A hard but enjoyable session. I can never tell how the AT work is going to go, but today it went well. Managed the first 2 minutes of each set with the new tekkers before switching back. Previous best for this session was 6855m so a small pb of 16m. Lower / mid back is still aching a fair bit, don't think it affected the session at all but worth mentioning. I did consider doing a max 500m as I've never done one and it's next in line, but considering how much the 1min took out of me I think I'll leave it for today.

Evening

Circuit - 30 min - 10x10x10

Just had the race details emailed through, racing next Sat at 11:11am. Looks like there are 40 people per race, 2 guys in my race have been under 6:13 Grin!

Graham Benton is a multiple world champion and a galloping horse of a rower !! i 'raced' with him in a crossfit rowing comp a few years ago

i would not like to do a heat + final , but hopefully it will suit you down to the ground !!

He's not even one of the guys I was talking about, he can't have logged a time on the C2 website this season. Great to be racing against guys like that! I have no idea about the structure, how many get into the finals, and when are they , I can't see any mention of them?

Did you get a "selfie"? Had they been invented then?

I am guessing both of you will be producing a lovely video for the rest of to watch?

He has done 5:43 or somthing around that speed .... The number of people who can race at once seems to be 40 , so I would like to think the top 40 times go thru to the final

although I am not entirely sure thats whats happening ...could possibly be the best time wins it

I always enjoy poking around previous results

I might have to try and drop to lightweight Tongue!

Video of some of tonight's workout.
Warmup is done with the new form 0:00 - 0:50
Main row with new form 0:50 - 2:53
Main row with old form 2:53 - end

Looking at the video I think I'm sliding down the rail maybe a touch too far and not leaning forward enough still? If you look at the last bit of the video though it's a big difference. I'm preferring the new tekkers while I'm fresh at the moment, it's less stressful on the legs, and seems faster for less effort. Only thing is I can't keep it up for very long, I know this will improve with time but at the moment it's pretty tiring on the shoulders, and I'm finding it tough to catch my breath properly as the ribcage is more compressed than when I don't lean forward.

I'm not sure that I am in a position to comment on account of being a complete newbie, but your technique looks very different to mine. I imagine that some of it is the difference between normal height people and me and my excessive height.

Either way, do you find that the high pull gives you a faster rate? You seem not to slide very far forward on the rail as your shins don't get to verticle. I prefer a shorter leg drive and shins not quite to verticle on sprints, but on longer distance, I like a full, slow stroke rate.

Well the higher pull just seems pretty natural and gets me a little extra distance for what seems to be negligible effort. If you look towards the end of the video that is how I normally row and I do slide a fair bit further forward, the down side is I can't lean forward if I do that.

One big difference I have noticed is when I don't lean forward I can get more leg drive into the stroke, when I want to go faster I can keep the same S/M and just drive harder. When I don't go as far down the rail and I lean forward more I can't drive as hard, I have to increase the S/M to go faster.

Crap nights sleep and working today sapped the motivation. These felt unreasonably hard and I felt like quitting during all of them, it was meant to be 5 sets but I couldn't face doing the last one. Overall time was decent enough, just felt like crap doing it Grin I'm thinking that I'm going to start winding down for the comp next weekend, slightly steadier sessions with nothing strenuous after about Wednesday.

Interesting how all these little tweaks to form eek out the little bits of extra speed. I'm much to new to this to have any idea what I'm doing or have settled into a form, but I've found that it works better for me to gain the extra ROM at the start of the pull than the end.

Super strong 1k times there. You've gotta be pretty much on for 3 min for a max effort pull? Your heart rate stayed quite low throughout.

Cheers! I'm going to test my 1k some time soon after next weekend so we will see, 3 min is the aim at some point but I'm not sure I'm there yet Grin

My max HR is about 175, but it normally takes sustained hard work or short rest times to get it over 160. Those 1k's yesterday were hard work, don't let the HR fool you!
