Billytheold said:Pete, where I live some men carry a leather or other material pouch that is mostly carried on the front above the belt. It is refered to as a fanny pack! I was recently told that this means something else in your country. From an American at the airport during questions while going through security. ???

This is true. "Fanny" in the UK, is one of the more polite terms for what lies between a woman's legs. There are countless other, cruder words for it, but we need not concern ourselves with those.

"Fanny packs" in the UK are called "bum bags"

Thank you, however as a 137ish kilo man I really can't be too happy with anything below bodyweight. Anything below 140 has to be considered the work of a schoolgirl. I can still be pleased with it as progress is being made, but 140 is were happiness lies.

This dinnertime post is brought to you as the chaps I dine with have gone for a walk around the carpark as the sun is shining. That's a rum thing if you ask me, I do like the sunshine as attractive young ladies wear fewer clothes but I do class it as similar to snow. Nice to look at through the window but pretty s**t to go out in.

That may indeed be true (the part about the bench - I can't get the quote function to work at the moment) but things moving in the right direction are moving in the right direction, so to speak...even if they have a way to go. Happy

Not another, just the same old one. The worst thing I ever did was put a bench shirt on, the training involved with that caused considerable overload in the shoulders and damned near snapped a tendon. Fortunately the tendon was found in time and a very considerable amount of treatment sorted it, sadly the damage done inside my head isn't fixed even now.

My best ever raw bench, paused is 172.5, my best without a pause is 175 and my best with the evil that is a shirt is 205. It was never my best lift and was always the first to suffer if I was ill or under the weather.

But I still have difficulty believing that I am struggling to bench bodyweight. I hold the M3 fat lad's squat, deadlift and total British records but I am looking at an increase of over twenty kilos to get the bench record.

I would happily settle for a regular 140

Ah right, yes I remember your battles with the shirt. Glad you're on the way back. You may have seen I put a shirt on tonight for the first training session in one for well over a year. Strangely enjoyable...

I never liked them, sometimes I liked them less than other times, it can be strangely satisfying when you get one bang on. But as there are only about two of those per calendar year, and when you consider the cost of the things, it really has to be classed as pretty s**t and not worth the bother. I could have happily burnt mine and danced naked around the flames, instead I donated it to an "equipment trial" session. It never came back and it was never meant to, I don't know where it is now and I don't bloody well care.

I enjoy watching the shirt experts, having seen/spotted a few 800lb+ training lifts at Ralls
and marvelled at how someone doesn't break in half holding such weight at arms length, let alone press it
but for me.. no - i barely get any carryover from slingshots or bench daddy's and expect the same would happen in a shirt.

Seeing as Poles for 300lb Men are not a thing you would likely need to! Happy
