No, not really. The events the final are pretty run of the mill, minus the tyre flip. Deads always feature, be it reps or max. Pretty common. Squats - The event from the final a few years that cost Thor. Pressing is always there, be it reps, or a medley. Truck, bus, plane pull whatever. Standard event. Stones to finish as always. As clearly shown, that final is clearly rigged for the worlds strongest man to win. What a fix. A scam. A joke. | ||

Don't get confused by the moniker, 'strongman' competitions have ALWAYS involved athletic ability and events where movement is required (in addition to some static strength events). So should it remain. Three static events in one final is, well, not unprecedented but unusual. Hmmm... | ||

However you could argue that the events for the last few years favoured shaw and thor with a ridiculously heavy plane/truck pull and kettlebell throw which give an advantage to very heavy very tall men. I could understand folk claiming it was a fix if one of the events was something random that suited hall but squat deadlift and viking press are all well established strongman events that they could all train ahead of time. On an unrelated note does anyone know what happened to janashia? He was on fire last year and seems to have had a really poor final. | ||

'THE NIGHTMARE' Member 5255, 290 posts SQ 220, BP 195, DL 240655.0 kgs @ 130kgs UnEq | There are 3 static and 3 moving events, seems fairly evenly spread and the static events are all true strongman specialities. This is 100% a win on merit for Eddie and I'm really happy for him. I'd also like to see just one visit to a powerlift event just to set a huge total record. | ||

I for one am happy for him. He puts the f**king work in and deserves it. Strongest guy to ever live in my opinion. (Note I didn't say best strongman ever) | ||
