Seems like the Botswana tourist board know the dates - http://www.botswanatourism.co.bw/event/world-strongest-man

Between the 6th and 14th of May so fairly early. Hopefully they can actually organise the contest far enough in advance that they can get the best athletes to come this year.

Arsjo
Forsmark
Felix
Hall
Shahlaei
Hicks

all qualified through Giants Live although Arsjo looks to be out long term with a back injury.

Anybody have any other knowledge?

Botswana will be asking for our bank account details and sort codes next saying we've won free tickets to the final.

Eddie Hall is definitely going to win the squat. His power is disgusting

It certainly looks that way by the videos he's posting. The problem is, squat is only 1 event and has no more significance to the final points tally than, keg toss, yoke, fingals etc.

Maybe time would be better spread across all the events instead of hammering the stuff he's already in the top few at. He may be doing that though - I hope so anyway

Do we know for certain squat will be in it or are we just guessing?

He's certainly been hammering yoke judging by his performance in the Britain. Finishing just behind the best yoker of a WSM style weight in the world. He can compete with Thor and Shaw in that now.

Basically Eddie can compete with 5 out of the 6 likely events for WSM final this year. It's the 6th that may cause him issues.

I certainly wouldn't make Eddie favourite but he could win, he just needs things to go his way.

As far as I know, the location is right but the dates are wrong. Either a week or two later.

Eddie will win this year unless he gets injured.
I don't think even the throwing event will be as much as a weakness as people think. Look how he's improved yoke, do you really think he will have neglected anything.

The same could be said of thor and shaw given their improvements on log. Especially as most of the other massive log pressers are either injured like radz or not at their best like lalas and savatinov.

Without a big buffer on log I don't see it being plain sailing for ed. He can still win but will need to have improved hugely on some events and beat both thor and shaw on them.

Also if the events in the final follow the same pattern, as they have in recent years, he's likely to have a loading event which he will likely lose some points on.

Unless the events really don't suit him I think ed, unless injured, will win. He looked fantastic at Britain's.

Fair point about others improving log. But I feel ed can beat them on log, squat, yoke, and possibly stones. At Europe's 2 years ago ed took Thor right to the wire on the loading event before he pulled out. He's improved a lot since then too.
It won't be easy for him but I think it'll be very close between him and shaw

I think its too close to call this years winner, especially as we dont yet know the events or likely finalists
