Overall, Shaw is becoming better... But I wouldn't say he's stronger... Yet!
He's on a par with what Z was when he wasn't as injured, but Shaw, as far as I can recall, hasn;t out-squatted or out-pressed Z yet... 2 huge strongman disciplines... Until then...

Who is stronger on stones? On lorry? Yoke? Frame carry? Deadlift? Throw for height.

When was the last time there was a max squat in a comp? I don't recall seeing it recently? Only for reps.

Ed is stronger than Z on everything but overhead, static ways. No doubt he will take that record too.

For me, you're comparing Stilton with Lancashire Crumbly...

Shaw, currently & IMO, is in his prime and will get better for another year or so, others are catching up, but not quite there

Z, IMO, is passed his prime and so Shaw is taking over...

Shaw couldn't beat Z in his prime; he kept up with him, but didn't beat him...

Don't forget Z held records on the stones, on the carry, on the yoke as well as log, fingles fingers etc... All that's changing, again and as it should

No, the only thing we could probably bank on Z winning would be the log, but even then, with recently clips being shown, Shaw looks very good on the log! But he's still not up there with Z

He beat him in 2011 and equalled points in 2010??

If both guys were at their peaks and I had to have one of them to compete for my life, I'm picking Shaw each time.

Come on bro

Z at 41 beat last year version of Shaw at ASM, probably the strongest Shaw ever.

I dont think Zs version of 2014 is beatable by any Shaw.

Plus he broke the Log record twice that year. These days top guys prepare months for big log, Z was constantly on that level. People forget how statically dominant he was.
Plus Shaw competes at incredible bodyweight and still sucks at pressing, this is a huge flaw.
Hes just damn good and prepared for the events, but not the more powerfull guy from them both in everyones peak.

I think this version os Shaw beats 14 Z. At Wsm anyway. Both are 1 and 2 anyway.

Put Arnold events as stones, no straps on frame...No version of any athlete beats Shaw.

I don't really like the heavy slow events, particularly the powerlifting staples. It's much more fun to watch Terry pelt up the field with an odd object than Thor stumble under the weight of a ship mast. While I can understand the incredible year on year 1.5kg increments Z increased the log record by I'd much prefer a lifting medley for time. Variety is the spice of life etc.

Loading medley 4 objects weighing roughly 120kg

Truck pull

Max squat (no suits and decent depth)

Log 180 for reps

Fingal fingers

Deadlift 370 for reps (normal bar)

Atlas stones 150 170 185 200 215

7 events. Would this be a good comp?

I love the look of your comp, Adam. Ed could well dominate that.

Also I agree, I would pick a 2016 Shaw to compete for me over 2014 Z if my life depended on it.

And 8th event to test grip and it would be a great comp.

Hanging on a bar for time, over a pit of crocodiles.
