Not allowing tri bars is quite funny, given that they're called tri bars!

I mean disk wheels. Are disk wheels allowed in normal UCI stages as opposed to tts?

Usually the Brownlees use Boardman aero bikes which are advertised "off the shelf" at around 7.6kg, but today they've got no integral front brakes so maybe they've gone for a lighter option. The light road Boardman is listed as 6.45kg off the shelf.

That's a very fair point. I'd assumed so, but never actually checked. I'll see what I can find.

You are indeed correct. Not allowed in mass start events.

I guess in triathlon you're allowed them if drafting isn't allowed and vice versa?

It makes sense, there was enough flat on that course to make at least a tri spoke helpful.

Fair play to Brownlee, that was one hell of a performance!

Well, if you like suffering like I think you do, I think you're going to bloody love it.

I hope you've got a big fan. You're going to need it.

I have a reasonable size fan and I do like to push myself.

will my 11 speed bike just fit straight on there ?

also read today that segan is doing the mountain biking, unless it was some sort of clickbait joke.

If you actually mean slammed then I'd say comfort is not your first priority
I've never ridden a cannondale road saddle, and they're such an individual thing that one mans perfect perch is another's bed of nails. It will be the shape not particularly agreeing with you rather than it being a cannondale thing. All of their saddles are a fairly conventional shape.
I'll post a few links this afternoon with saddles that are worth looking at. But it'd help if you could tell me what about it isn't comfortable, ie where do you get pain or discomfort?

I get a hot almost burning sensation kind of all over my bottom after about 30 miles. At 40 miles, it's quite unbearable and this makes me stop, get off the bike and walk around for a few minutes. The burning sensation continues thereafter but I kind of just get on with it. My longest rides are 60-65 miles and I feel this is holding me back.

I have Btwin bib shorts from Decathlon that are now over a year old. I don't use Chamois cream either.

Do you think that investing in a pair of quality bib shorts will make a difference? I could do that first before changing the saddle. I've had a professional bike fit so I know the bike geometry is as good as it will get for me.

If so, which bib shorts would you recommend?

I would try good bib shorts, but again, that is about finding something that fits you personally. That said, I've never known someone who didn't absolutely rave about a brand or model of shorts once they've found some that do - it has that much of an effect (same with saddles really).

Lots swear by rapha or assos, but you'll pay a heavy premium. The problem is that you might buy 5 pairs before you find 'that' pair. I only ride Castelli shorts. I think they are called 'Free Aero Race', I've never paid more than £90 and they retail at £140 I think. I've had about 8 pairs over the years and currently have 3 pairs on rotation. I've heard good things about the top end DHB stuff that is wiggle's in house brand and am going to try some soon for commuting.

With the saddle it sounds like you need a cut out. Take a look at the specialised toupe. It's available in 3 different widths and a number of different 'levels' or weights and therefore prices. if it fits you, you'll love it. Again, never pay full price.

I'd post more links and info but it's not so easy on the phone.

The general rule is that you pay particular attention to your contact points, so feet, arse and hands. Get those right and riding a bike becomes a different experience entirely.

I'm not sure if yours will come with a 10 speed or 11 speed cassette but it will fit either way. A 10 speed cassette uses a spacer.

Be religious about covering your headset and wiping it down after with a non sweaty towel. Even with a fan I was sweating at a rate of just under a litre every 30 minutes today (I weighed myself before and after). That can do damage over a while.

will do !

I checked and its an 11 speed version I am buying.

do I have to use the wahoo app or can I go straight for trainer road ? (I do have the app on my phone , but was just wondering)

You've got big dreams, you want fame. Well fame costs, and right here is where you start paying; in sweat

I don't use the app, just trainerroad. I'm trying to remember if I needed to use the app to set it up. I definitely did it that way as I wasn't on trainerroad but you might not need to.

Will you use your phone to control it? I use my computer, iPad or phone depending on what I'm doing with the others. The other day I had olympics on the computer, cricket on the iPad and trainerroad and music on the phone. I'm not sure the point, I don't think I had my eyes open.
