Home, Food, cost free training in Gym, Sponsor clothes, Sponsor sports nutrition, Sponsor 4 x doctor for his back problems. Zahir is the most sponsored powerlifting athlete in Finland today, yet he decided to mock the people that help him." I'd say the controversy around him and his antics gets clicks on youtube. The sponsors know he gets clicks on youtube and that equals exposure for their brand. There is no such thing as bad publicity etc. Same with Mc Gregors persona. Wrestling bad guys.

The straps would do the same damage to the bar as safety bars

Shaw would have done a good morning with that and upset Z. Ed would have taken 480kg's face for a s**t and lifted it in his pants. But in all seriousness, Zahir made a big boy move that didn't pay off. What he did do though was get people talking and get people aroused!

Surely this wouldn't result in a f**ked bar and those blocks could be solid as hell. There's an equipped powerlifter, vanillagorilla something on Instagram (I forget his name, absolute beast though) that uses something similar.

I'll take a stab here and say it's probably a financial reason as they are very pricey. Also, I've tried adjusting the height on the jerk blocks (in the grand total of 2 gyms that I've trained in with them) and found them to be a ballache to adjust too which may also be a factor...

I hate those heavy duty straps on the mono - they're usually set so low that i'm not sure they'll prevent a journey to the delightful snappage-on-the-wold if you have to dump and f**k it up badly. was there a specific injury/injuries that brought them into being used?
