His 443kg pb was on a stiff axle in the middle of a comp on that s**tty food from China. I'm sure Shaw was about the only one not on the s**tty food in China. He shipped loads of his own food over so didn't suffer like all the others apparently. Very clever tactics.

Chief Moderator. Member 2712, 151 posts | I think Pritchett is getting a bit of a hard time. He's a quality strongman and always going to come close to making the finals. Not a top 5 man in the final but definitely not out his depth.

It was a stroke of genius if it's true. Hall reckoned he lost 10kg of body weight in China.

Talking to him about it in Leeds last year he said he was definitely planning on hitting the world record and more as his training was going well! So we'll just have to see what happens if a fully fit Shaw, Ed and hopefully Benni can all turn up that day on form and absolutely nail some huge weights, would love to see 500kg go, but we're probably still a few years off that yet

Not a top 5 man in the final but definitely not out his depth. I mean no disrespect to the guy and given the financial reward for making the final you can hardly blame him for taking the opportunity even if he was carrying an injury. My problem is with the clearly stupid choice from the organisers to award double points for the stones that ended up gifting a final's place to Jerry who otherwise would have finished either 3rd but more probably 4th in his group, Rads being the other higher placed athlete. As far as I'm concerned strongman is supposed to be about finding who is overall the strongest man, not who's really good at one event and rewarding them for that. Zageris was by far the better strongman on the day, had an absolute mare on the stones, but under normal circumstances had accumulated enough points to go through... But because for some bizarre reason US TV audience's have been deemed to need some kind of a gimmick to watch the strongest guys in the world making superhuman efforts it has cost the better athlete his place in the final and potentially could have an effect on the overall outcome of the final just like it did last year with their meddling...Thor dropping an extra point to Z on squat so losing by half a point rather than winning by half a point because Warrick Brant was there as one of the two highest scoring third places. Leave the format alone is worked for years and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it!!
