Look at Shaw when he dropped the back in the water a few years ago. Gone are the days of guys like Mariusz winning by such a clear margin that he could do it on cruise control.... when the top dudes are so strong and so close someone coming in with a little niggle that stops them maxing on DL or messing up stones or whatever makes all the different. Great effort by Shaw though. Wanted Z to win, but seems like a really good final. Really happy for Ed, and Felix´s performance at 49 is just incredible. | ||

AKA the great reset Member 4056, 5208 posts | You make a good point about Mariusz. Strongman has obviously evolved the last few years and has got heavier. However has anybody dominated finals the way he could? He is still my fav strongman not from UK. It is easy to forget how good he once was at WSM. | ||

Mariusz was incredible, and he was at the very top of his game for what the events demanded at the time. A lot of speed and repping ability, which is obviously what he excelled at. I´m sure he´d have made a bloody good effort at adapting for the heavier events of today too if it were still his focus. Great champion, every era has them and the type of body etc required changes as the events evolve. | ||

Member 5753, 6 posts | Z will be back.He placed 2nd in 2013 after only just having surgery a few weeks before, no one can beat Z when he is in shape  Ed Hall/thor at there 100% best can't beat Z at 85% but Shaw can. I can't see Ed topping 4th place unless the top 3 get really injured. A few names coming up in England I think will overtake Ed in the next few years. Terry has been at the top for a long time due to his genetics. Shame about Loz as he had great potential for podium, dropping weight drasticly has effected his equibirium on events this can then increase chance of injury. I guess he wanted to look good for his PT business? Hope he heals up and gets back to his normal shape. | ||

He fairly changed that the following year. | ||

I think z has proved he can still mix it at the very top! Hope he continues for a few more years! Can only be good for strongman. Also think Shaw will go on and win more than 5 wsm titles | ||
