any tips for a first timer fellas ?
my 1st comp is 6 weeks away, u105kg northern, and im looking for any advice that might help ?
increase or reduce training/event training , diet, time off before comp, etc.......... anything !
im starting to think im maybe aimimng a little high to start n maybe should of done some novice stuff first, but sod it my name is down n im gonna give it 100% !
sure you've all learned as you go along,knowledge is power n all that so im hoping to grab all that wisdom.

carb up week before comp but monitior you weight if your struggling there
start to lighting the training 10 days before the comp the have a full 5 to 7 days away from training, do some light walking and stretching.

Apart from that keep yourself busy and try not to think about the comp

some things I do -

- take a week off before the comp
- usually eat some extra carbs in the days leading up to the comp but nothing crazy.
- eat big on the morning before the comp. most ive spoken to find it hard to eat during a comp. I take malt loaf with me and eat that between events if I can.
- get a decent kit bag and pack it the night before so you dont forget anything. im always surprised at how much s**t I need to bring with me!
- make sure you are absolutely clear on all the rules. nothing worse than getting reps disallowed.
- try and get a warm up on the kit if theres an opportunity. quite often there isnt though.
- dont worry too much what anyone else is lifting just go and give 100% on every event.
- if you f**k up just forget it and move on to the next event fresh. alternatively, get pissed off about it and take it out on the next event. both approaches have worked for me in the past!
- have a laugh!

- make sure youve got an idea of what the running order of competitors is. different comps use different methods and its a right f**ker getting called up when youre not ready.

Enjoy it mate. Rest up a week or so before the comp, eat lots if you're not going to miss the weightclass.

But, make sure you have fun!

you will be ok mate, your lifts are a lot better than mine.

This will be the first comp I`m having a week off before, we are off to centre parks so its kind of enforced.
