Clarence Kennedy has been silent on YouTube for a good while. It will be interesting to see what he is up to.

He had an injury and wasn't doing anything spectacular, he posted a video in June of some training. Video of him cleaning 170 (I guessed) and squat 200x5 from the training hall there.

I was really relieved to see they had finally introduced a under 15 category to the European Youth championships recently because its a massive difference at that age..

I don`t share that view at under 20 and under 23 level really though .. I`m not against under 23s, i think its valid BUT the format is wrong .

In the next category 56kg Under 23 .. The start list has just three lifters down all with 200kg entry totals. Would be around 7th place in the younger age category .

You should run them both together then present the medals for the under 20s and under 23s at the end so you don`t end up with some muppet 90kg snatch winning a gold medal . The under 20 athletes are still under 23 as well ...

My opinion .

I saw in Clarence's video that the super heavy weight from Russian Karen Martirosyan(sp?) and that curly haired one from the Russian Nat's was there. Looking forward to the highlights.

Apart from the sound delay they've made a great stream.

Out of interest do people put in bids to get these events to their countries or is it just randomly assigned?

Yes you have to bid for them like you do any Olympics etc .. You watch alot of lifting so you`ll know its very often is the usual suspects who put in all the hard work .. Normally you get Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland Russia etc guys who have ran quite a few championsips and are very well set up for it ..

How the financials work for these types of things i have no real idea . In Thailand there were two training halls 40 platfroms in each . every single one with a £5000 brand new platfrom and set of weights, bar etc . warmup room of comp another 15 brand new sets .. Cost £ 500000 ?

IWF is extremely rich . EWF must be too .

I would absolutely love to know how the process works from start to finish off a reliable source not just someone guessing ..

Problem is this ..

In the 80`s you had European and World Championships and then the Olympic Games ..

If you was 17 years old then you had to wait until you was good enough to get on your senior national team .

So they decided to bring European and World Junior Championships in which was a great move ..

Then in 1993 they introduced a under 16 age group in Europe which was later reformed and turned into a Continental and World under 17 Championships ..

Then they decided to bring in an under 23 level and then an under 15 level .

So there are so many championships now . Thats why they have put the under 23 and under 20 Championships under the same umbrella .. So where you`d normally get an excellent 19 year old who can win the under 20s then enter the under 23s as well he can no longer do this ..

I personally would like the 19 year old to be able to take both under 20 and under 23 crowns . It makes more sense to me .
