got invited to a benchpress marathon where you bench your weight class for max reps (Ie, I am under 90kg, so I have to bench 90kg).

went to the gym to see what I could get and got 29 reps (I know I am not locking out but didnt realise till I saw the vid-will have to try again in a few days)

anyone ever competed before in such a comp?

here is my vid

I did a comp at my gym once where you had to bench bodyweight max reps, max reps on pull ups and squat bodyweight for max reps. I weighed 97kg at the time and lost to some guy that weighed 60kg Unhappy

well thats the thing it's about relative strength, not absolute.
the current records are held by maksims and saulius, at 82.5kg, and 100kg.
saulius benches 190kg raw at 82.5 and maksims 320kg equipped. both are beasts

Think this definitley favours the lighter gentlemen.

Somebody weighing 180kg will have hard time putting up high reps compared to somebody half the weight.

I know this is stating the obvious lol

Good attempt. Lack oflockouts but they all still locked easy anyway.

You'd probably still be looking at 25+ with lockouts so nice going.

I'm at 79kg so would probably struggle to get 80 for more than 10 tbh...

you think locking out would take off much?

I got 24 in the middle of a strongman comp at 85kg. Drew with some other guy, both went again. I got 19, he got 18.

I was supposed to have won £50 but there was only £40 in the envelope. Cnt.

Depends. It increases the time and sitance slightly so will affect you a small amount probably.

Depends on the rules. If you can relax for a few seconds at lockout it may help near the end..

I weighed 88 this morning. I'd easily bosh out 20-25 reps, possibly more with that weight. 30 would be very doable. I'd even pause the last rep for good measure.
