hey, was wondering if sumo deadlifting is sometimes not allowed in strongman comps? if so, why and how do they judge it to be one or the other? Confused
need to know as i hope to compete eventually and need to see which one i prefer.

Try doing a car or farmers deadlift sumo.

If your hands are inside your feet then it's a sumo deadlift - There is probably a more technical definition somewhere but this should see you right Happy

Dose every comp striclty forbid sumo technique?

As above though, good luck doing some of the odd deadlift variants!

cheers! good to have a definate answer! and i can see the point about deadlifting cars and so on.

do any of you strongman competers do sumo as part of your training anyway?

I know Mick does them on the very odd occassion, but certainly not with any regularity

i once saw a guy at a comp doing a sort of half sumo thing, one arm inside his leg one outside, he done well from what i remember
