My favourite moment at this years SSM , Stephen and Ken head to head on the 130kg axle for reps... Very different techniques but they both got the job done and both men got 7 reps , the crowd loved it !

At the time I thought this was the power of cherrie vs the tech of ken, but watching it back 7 power cleans with 130 from ken is phenomenal power

kens posseses the most explosive power we have seen in any Scottish athlete by a mile and his ability to master technique shows time and time again.2 very different types of strength I think that's what adds to the fun when the battle.

Really enjoyed the whole day, some amazing men there, and can i say completely nice to talk to, i spoke to a few of you guys including ken during the day, and glad to say not one had a bad attitude even with some of the rages the guys had during events lol
again great event run by stuart murray and the lads from burns gym.
im gutted i didnt push myself harder at the spectator participation log press, or i could have got 1st but big bryan looked like he could have kept going all day lol and i still got a free case of beer for 2nd lol

i must say it was fantastic the whole day, mrs murray is amazing at scores, stuart and his crew are as efficient as a nazi concentration camp, crowd where very vocal and athletes all did scotland proud.
was a very close battle, loved the axles head to head, and i had the time of my life prancing up and down the venue with my cordless mic, colin bryce can kiss my ass
on a more serious note though, i think all the scottish strongmen owe Stuart a big thank you, there was a big black cloud hanging over this comp for a long long time and stuart has managed to put the fun and the fairness back into the most prestigious comp in scotland

Amazing looking comp! Venue looked awesome, where was it? It looked like a Giants Live/WSM type of event, but better.

I couldn't agree more.
They ran an awesome comp, everyting ran perfectly, the venue looked great, loaders and spotters were great. Refereeing was good and fair, and even the MC was half decent
All the guys were superb all day, really great bunch. The standard of both the competitors and the comp is up from last year, and I think it must have been a great spectacle for the crowd. it was great to see a lot of kids there wanting tshirts signed and saying that they wanted to be strongmen etc.
Andy, i thought you did a great job as MC, and filled any quiet spells with stuff to keep the audience interested.
I would like to thanke everyone involved again, superb comp, and Stuart is a great guys who truely loves the sport and is willing to invest his own time and money in it, and does his absolute best to make those of us travelling from so far away feel welcome

Much thanks for all the comments thus far, I should have my event footage soon which I'll then put together with a write up.
With regards to the axle, I knew I would have to powerclean them all cause I've had a cold all week, as soon as the hot weather disappeared I've been screwed, so any continental clean would ruin my breathing and cost me big. Was so close to getting the win then Stevie locked it on the whistle which made the comp even better.
Appologues for my 'outburst' after the loading, was just extremely psyched up.
Was very glad to call it water under the bridge with certain folk as I have looked up to them ever since I started strongman, I remember watching a certain future U105 champion training during my very first events session in awe!
It has been said, but got to have been the closest ever SSM final and I believe it's going to again push the standard up. The battle with Cherrie has to be one of career highlights!
Anyway, I'll post more later and then it's back to the gym tomorrow
