Elliot, you might need to hit those numbers just to qualify for next years classic as the totals are going to be revised upwards! Training 07/10/2015 High bar squats 70 x 3 120 x 3 120 x 3 120 x 3 120 x 3 120 x 3 Paused bench press Bar x 12 60 x 3 80 x 3 80 x 3 80 x 3 80 x 3 80 x 3 Deadlifts 135 x 3 135 x 3 135 x 3 Still f**ked from the weekend.

Member 541, 4893 posts SQ 192.5, BP 120, DL 222.5535.0 kgs @ 92.8kgs UnEq | The equivalent qualifying total for 120s in the USAPL is 545kg. Strange in the UK GBPF is trying to reduce participation, especially as in 120s there were about 12 (?) lifters, that doesn't seem a lot to me.

Strange in the UK GBPF is trying to reduce participation, especially as in 120s there were about 12 (?) lifters, that doesn't seem a lot to me. I believe there were 11 of us who lifted on the day and a few who didn't show up. In the bodyweight group at the ends of the scale, the number of lifters seems to be about right for a British championships. You have to look at the middle groups so 83/93 where I think there were close to 30 in each category. To me this suggests that the qualifying standard is too low. For the seniors I believe that the qualifying total should be put up 5-10%. This is because there seem to be a lot of people who take up the sport and within a year can qualify for the British champs without much difficulty. This is pretty much never the case in any other sport. I believe that if you lift at a national level, it should be something you've had to work really hard for rather than it being just another comp. So far this year I've already done three national meets. For me however, the real problems lie within the junior qualifying totals. To qualify for the junior -120kg class you need a 467.5kg total. This works out as 170/107.5/190. Frankly, it's a joke of a qualifying total for that weight class. I would like to see that total increased by about 15% so that it is more inline with the bdfpa qualifying total of 527.5kg for the -125kg class. In terms of participation, the numbers are through the roof. In 2013 the classic was over 2 days for women, men and juniors. In 2014 it was over two separate weekends with the female open/juniors on one and male open/juniors on another. This year the women had their own weekend, the men had their own weekend and the juniors have a 3 day weekend with over 170 people scheduled to lift. As you know, the All England was also over three days this year. In the not too distant future, I think we might have to have qualifying totals for regions as was the case years ago.

Member 4522, 1898 posts SQ 222.5, BP 152.5, DL 245620.0 kgs @ 120kgs UnEq | Chris I think only the categories that were overfilled will be affected by the qualifying totals. This is from a few conversations I've had. 120s might go up, but like you said, there were only 12 competitors anyway. That doesn't say much.

Member 541, 4893 posts SQ 192.5, BP 120, DL 222.5535.0 kgs @ 92.8kgs UnEq | The trouble with only putting up the qualifying totals of those classes that are oversubscribed is that this will raise those totals needed to that required for the next higher weight class. You could even end up in a situation where a 93kilo lifter needed a higher total than the current 120 qualifying total, which would be odd.

Felt s**t on the top single of 220kg on stiff leg deadlifts so dropped it below my knees so as not to do any more damage. Spent the rest of the session on a foam roller and discover that my left IT band was extremely tight so spent time sorting that out. Did various other rehab stuff which seems to have helped. Pain pretty much gone now. Will see how I feel tomorrow.

Using a belt did seem to help a fair bit as well. I left it at 207.5kg as that was an all time pb and now isn't the time to be going for hero lifts. Probably had 215kg in me if I really wanted it. Bench moved nicely today. Day off tomorrow due to work so will probably train Friday and Saturday.

Bench was pretty good in terms of the sets of 5. Top double was a bit ropey. Did SLDL's today as I couldn't train yesterday. Really no idea what was going on with them tonight lol.

Bench was a bit all over the place. For some reason I was just dropping the bar onto my chest which made things harder. Block pulls were pretty hard but at least my back didn't snap.
