Good point although like you said not everyone is a user of such substances. Obviously drugs testing is a much harder process than the prevention of suits, shirts etc. In my opinion the fact that many lifters use PEDs is not a good reason for equipment being used.

It shouldn't even be in the same discussion... Lifters who use multiply equipment also lift in completely untested federations for the most part, either way it is superfluous to the conversation.

I quite agree. I was merely pointing out the reaction to many people who shun the one and totally embrace the other

I agree with both points, we'll save that debate for another day.

I have done both and they are remarkably similar, not the same, but very similar. My equipped lifting was restricted to IPF approved, single-ply suits.
Benching, in and out of a shirt, are much more different than squats. But those too are quite similar, after all, it's bar to chest, pause, and press to arms length for both. The trouble lies there in that people try to get too much out of a shirt, that doesn't make it different, but it does make it difficult. Making something difficult is not the same as making if different

I have expericne using single ply as well.

Single ply suits may feel similar, I would be willing to bet if I was to perform a 3D kinematic analysis of the same lifter squatting raw and in a suit they would be pretty different. Squatting multiply doesn't even look like a squat.

I have quite a lot of experience benching in single ply and raw and it's not even remotely the same skill. Deadlifting is about the closest of the three to being the same equipped and raw.

No it isn't.

A man invents a suit that increases his squat and you point he finger and say it shouldn't be allowed.

A man injects himself with something that also increases his squat and you say that's different.

The fact that one changes the mechanics of the lift slightly and the other does not is incidental in my view.

Stop trying to drag this into a PED discussion I care not for your views on the subject or anyone else for that matter. All it will lead to is the thread locked and an end to the discussion. I compete in a tested federation anyone who chooses to do otherwise is their decision. I will leave it at that I would kindly ask you do the same.

I take your point but you are massively over-egging the pudding in my view. My experience of both is very different to yours it would seem

I doubt many people have much trouble getting an empty barbell to touch their chest in a raw lift because their chest is too tight...

I am so sorry. I never realized that your opinions were so much better-informed and more important than mine.

Now that I am aware of that, I will do as requested.

Fat Pete, over and out

Marc how would you go about getting multi-ply lifters to start using less equipment? It seems like a pretty difficult task.
