I played a nice round of golf today before going to the burns gym. It was a nice change from the usual starthclyde uni gym. My lifts today were:

Deadlift
Bar x loads
70kg x 5
100kg x 5
145kg x 3
165kg x 1 - PB (+5kg)
175kg x 1 - PB (+15kg total)


Block Deadlift - raised 4 or 5 inches
170kg - Couldn't lift it
120kg x 5
120kg x 5

Squats
Bar x a few - front squat
60kg x 5 - front squat
80kg x 5 - regular
80kg x 5 - regular
80kg x 5 - regular


Overall it was a great session. I'm very happy about getting a new 1RM and I think 145kg is a new 3RM.

Cheers guys. I was surprised I got the lift to be honest but it felt quite good. After you giving me those figures Wiegie I want to get a 3x bodyweight lift now, which would be 200kg if I stayed at about the same weight.

I went in to DG One today, a coucil gym with very limited free weights.

HIIT - Row

Only did 5 minutes at level 5 as I'm pretty unfit at the moment. Hopefully going to start doing more of this as it is quite fun yet brutal at the same time.

The time broke down as follows:

1 minute regular row
30 seconds 100% power and speed
Repeated 3 times (4.5 minutes) then finished with a 30second regular row.

I used to do 7 minutes at level 10 (4 rounds with a 1 minute regular row to finish) but I'm going to have to build back up to that.

I went into Peak Physique today for a quick Squat session. There isn't a lot of room in there and there are no safety bars for if I failed a lift so I stuck to 100kg. It felt quite easy and I probably could of done some more weight but because of the lack of supports, (or spotters) I didn't want to risk it. Overall though it was a good maintenance session. Next week I should be back in the Strathclyde gym and might look at going for a new 1RM.

I didn't have a lot of time today for extra stuff because we're not allowed in the gym when exams are on so I had to go in the lunch interval.

My session today felt really good and overall I felt like I lifted well. My form was good and I was lifting pretty fast.

I did some double-overhand shrugs after deadlifts. The 90kg weight was pretty easy to shrug, the problem was with my grip which I need to strengthen as I was struggling to hold the weight after 5 or so reps.

I finished off with 10 pull-ups, before running out of time.

Your big lifts are doing great right now. The squat and dead strength is going up at a very impressive rate!
Your blog is defo gonna be one to follow. I can see you flying through the 400s to the 500s in no time at all.

Overall today was a very good session. I iniially felt tired but I soon got into it. I'm a little annoyed about not getting the 155kg triple because I was only a fraction from lock-out. I probably could of locked it out if I had jeopardised my form, but that would be going against my aim of keeping good technique.
