E-Z Curls (45) 7 good, 7 hard, 7 cheated & v. hard

Your deadlifts are getting strong. Somehow with deadlifts, I find lifting less often seems to do the trick for me...but I'm abnormal.

Skipped the next monday's squat & bench and the next wednesday's close-grip bench.

11th August - I think

Bodyweight 92.9

Deads (60) 20 ok (90) 7 v. good (125) v. good (150) + over/under 1 v.easy

(170) +belt&chalk 1 v. good (190) 1 v.good, 1 much harder
(130) belt off, back to double overhand 6 v. good

Pullups 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4 good

Barbell curls (40) 10 hard but good, 10 hard but good, 10 good

V. GOOD SESSION - week off squat & bench did me good

Bodyweight 94.5

Squat (60) 8 ok (80) 3 ok (100) 2 ok (115) + belt 5 hard, 5 hard but good, 5 hard but good, 5 hard but good

This was meant to be 5 sets of 5 and I probably could have managed 1 more set, but the workout was dragging on and I now have 2 little people at home. -Also, this was my first proper squat workout (ie. with moderate weight and quite a few reps) for a long time. Have sacrificed my rule of no belt below 140 in order to get some reps in with moderate weight and relearn how to use a belt and just generally how to squat.

Bench - New cycle will include only 4 sets of bench per workout on Mondays instead of 7 or 8, but using sets of 10

(60) 10 good (70) 10 good (80) 10 easy (90) 10 v. hard - last rep was a massive struggle. Possible rep PB I think

Military Press (52.5) 4 hard, 4 hard - was tired by this point & this was little more than a token effort

Bodyweight 94.3 - bodyweight has got out of control. 1400 cal shakes & beer may have affected this

Deads (60) 20 good - much fitter, probably due to running around London due to Southern's inability to run a train service

(90) 7 good (125) 2 v. good (150) +over/under 1 OK (170) +belt & chalk 5 v. hard but OK

(140) belt off & back to double overhand 5 - this was a 10KG misload, as was meant to be 130. First rep felt heavy, then I realised it was 140 and was pleased with how it felt. Grip felt very good which I'm v. pleased about.

Pullups 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3

Barbell curls (47.5) 5 hard but good, 5 hard but good, 5 hard but OK

Pleased with deadlift progress. Hope to keep it going and get back in to the 200's.

Nice squatting. I've also being doing high reps recently. I'm ok with the 5 x 5, but If I try doing sets of 7, I feel like I'm going to spew. I've been using the ssb and its brutal.

You're on target for the deads. You are lifting similar dead weights to me during training. I did a practice meet with my friend, managed 200 kg..that was over a month ago now..so you should be able to do it very soon.

Your weight is far from being out of control, you are far from being fat. Keep lifting your weights mate don't worry about the belly.

bench (60) 10 weird (70) 10 better (80) 3- thought this was too easy so stopped to check weight, 10 hard Angry (92.5) 9.6 reps is what I'm calling this - just failed lockout on 10th

Decent session although weights felt heavy

My new rep scheme for this is 5, 4, 3, 1, 5
The aim is to set a 1RM PB on close grip bench, which should be easy as have never really pushed it for a single.

Deadlift

(60) 12 good - reduced reps as was planning to go heavy later
(90) 6 ok
(125) 2 v. good
(150) +over/under 1 v.v. easy
(180) + belt 1 good but bit lopsided
(202.5) FAIL - didn't leave floor, although was starting to take the strain - bugger, Fail again

(162.5) belt off, back to DOH - FAIL - bugger - didn't leave the ground
(162.5) +over/under, still beltless 4 v. good
Was actually very pleased with this. Not sure whether I've ever done beltless reps with 160+ before

Pullups 5 good, 5 ok, 5 good, 5 hard

E-Z Curls (47.5) 1 - Lol! My biceps always give out quickly if I do anything other than mini sets of pullups immediately before

(37.5) 11 hard, 8 good

Bit of a **** session, but the beltless reps with 162.5 made it at least not a complete failure.

Bodyweight - guessed at 94 as scales seem to have packed in

This session was on the sunday last week, instead of the monday this week (ie. I squatted and benched 'heavy' twice last week -sunday and monday which i'm not used to).

Squats

no weight x10

(60) 8 uncomfortable (80) 4 ok (100) 2 ok (125) + belt 5 v.v. hard, 5 better

Bench (60) 10 good (70) 10 good (80) 10 v. good!(95) 9 v. comfortable & more in tank. Hit rack on the way up on 8th rep which put me off and was generally too high up the bench. Rep PB of sorts

Military Press (52.5) 6 good, 5 good, 5 good

Good session followed by a massive bbq with a lot of food and beer. My wife says the chat amongst the ladies was how fat I've got - however, one of the guys there asked if I had been working out as soon as I saw him, then kept asking questions about it and even asked if I was on gear.
