Figured I'd start a log over here since its closer to home! Little about my myself/lifting;


25 years old, 6'1, 93kg, uni student (bum)!Grin Started lifting for powerlifting almost 3 years ago (October 2005), before that did a little gym work for basketball, but nothing worth noting (cardio and jump squats haha).

Right now my goal is to total 650kg un-equipped in the 90kg class. Only done one comp so far where I broke the British deadlift record (very breifly ~ 6 days before Dave Carter took it back!) with a pull of 288.5kg. Comp total so far is 613kg (April), but have hit 215 squat and a 130 bench since which takes the gym total to 633kg. Primarily training for BUSA meet on the 30th Nov where I intend to rebreak the deadlift record with a 301kg deadlift.

Am currently also a part of the Great Britian Bobsleigh team, but all the sprinting conflicts with powerlifting, so not sure which way it will go as of yet.

Training wise, I tend to switch between concurrent blocks or accumulation blocks (4-8 weeks) + intensification blocks (2-4 weeks). Right now I'm in the middle of a intensification block, in a couple of weeks I will head back to Sheiko (either #30 or CMS/MS template modified). Will also be delving in to some Olympic lifts in an attempt to clean up my deadlift form. Some recent PB's...

All belt only

Bench; 130kg

Power clean; 120kg
3 board; 147.5kgx5
2 board; 145kg
1 board; 137.5kg
Olympic squat; 175kgx5
Rack holds; 330kgx10's (hook grip)


Cycle goals right now are to fix my weak legs, improve my clean and get a bench press.

Yeah, I heard you were doing it (Reesy told me) but I'm not sure i'll be going for total. I want that 301kg deadlift...Happy What you shooting for?

Got my 1st equipped comp in sept so we'll see how I am when I get out of the gear. 650 would be a 30kg increase on my total this year so job done. However wind in right direction and could be more? It'll be good to see if you can take the deadlift record. What have you pulled in training?

haha I'm working on it but the ladies love the thick traps for now Cool . But I still feel that I have some unfinished business in the 90kg class so you never know, we might still get to rumble in the future.

Nothing! Haha. I rarely if ever deadlift, my indicator is Olympic squats, and they are up 15kg since last comp. Only ever pull on Sheiko cycles which is up to 230kg for 5 sets of 3. I'll make a push once my leg strength is up again, right now I'm trying to improve my deadlift form (arched back, hips down whatever) with power cleans. If I can come into the comp with 1-2 good deadlift sessions i'll be happy, probably shoot for 265kg for a double if Ima get 301kg. Right now its all about the squat and bench haha.Grin

650kg+ would be sweet, good luck with that! We will probably have some good battles eventually!

Wow that's a good deadlift, the holds for 10's are damn impressive too.

I shall have to console myself with having a better bench press than you Embarassed
