well that was a waste of time!

squat opened on 170. was tough, felt very s**te. slow. no technique but passed
second lift 180, no where near just burried me! going to try taking my stance out abit as im going lower than needed and i think this may be one of the reasons why i cave in so easily.
waivered third lift.

Bench opened 135. piece of piss. failed because i didnt wait for bench command.
second lift 150, rock solid, ass came up. grind, got it up but obvious fair. heaviest its ever felt.
third 150xfail. not an inch.

NO DEADS

decided to leave it there, no point risking the back. proper wank performance from me. i really need get back to the drawing board. my lifts are going down.

easyest 10er carls ever made!

im annoyed but still had a mint weekend.

Unlucky mate, only your 2nd comp so wouldn't beat yourself up about it. You will post a nice total next time you compete

Was nice to put a (bearded) face to the name yestarday mate. Would have liked to joke about a bit more with you guys but had 9 lifters to organize yesterday! In some ways, I would've preferred to lift!

Now this is my 2 pence worth. You are strong but a few technical flaws hold you back a hell of a lot. You don't stay tight enough on either your squats or benches.

Squats: you drop your chest and dive bomb them a bit. Some lifters get away with this, but in order to do so you have to be very tight at the bottom. Your squats are very 'swimmy' at the bottom - you lose tightness, back arch everything. Plus you squat waaaay too low. You've wasting many kg's that way.

Benches: again the problem is looseness off the chest. You need to place that bar where you want it and then drive it up WITHOUT lifting your ass off the bench. Experiment with different foot placings for this.

Apologies if I'm being a bit harsh but I hate to see strong guys waste performances on technical issues. You look like you should be capable of a 190-200kg raw squat if you sort some form issues out.

Anyway, it was only your 2nd comp so onwards and upwards!

Sam

T, you got up on the platform again and can take a few lessons away from it.

Your lifts aren't going down and you're not getting weaker physically - it's technically and mentally that you're all over the shop. Forget the poundages for a bit, just concentrate on lifting to comp standard and nailing the technique. Get someone to throw in a few comp commands every now and then, especially on max attempts in the gym.

And for the love of god, for the billionth time, stop talking about what you might lift if x, y & z all goes to plan. Talking the numbers game is doing you no favours whatsoever. Next time mention your openers if you must, but no more.

You're a strong lad and you'll only get stronger. As s**tty as you may feel now, it will be nothing compared to how good you'll feel at your next comp with a decent total after heeding some advice.

Its all a learning curve Tom, maybe a few training sessions with seasoned powerlifters would help. if you hadn't had that belly dancer friday night maybe you'd have had more energyHappy well done anyway mate at least you got to the platform

IMO you need to sort your head out, 1 bad lift shouldnt make your head go to pot. I usually think of it as 3 comps, 1 for each lift.
