Z lost the competition, not Shaw won it
this is most people watching the competition''s opinion
im very sad cause Z lost, because he will probably retire if not wining the WSM this year
still the best

pretty much what you could say about WSM 2014
. Z didn't win it, Thor lost it -if he had suited up in the squat then Z wouldn't have got a lucky win

^^ your logic will find no home in this thread.

Massive well done to Shaw, amazing he managed to climb back to the top after what must have been a very disappointing loss at worlds last year.

Malaysia should make for a hell of a contest this year.

Anyone ever see how he trains?

Do you have a link for this ??

As good as Z is. If we're talking mistakes Shaw is only a dropped sandbag away from him and Z having 3 WSM titles each. Anyone remember the loading race in water? I can't recall the year off the top of my head.

I don't know the details but some kind of strongman politics fall-out? The guy was still pretty strong from the last I understand...

Wasn't it because he was swearing like hell the year after cos he no repped the squat

Yeah. Think his suit split or something . Then he freaked out and was throwing his belt around swearing. Always enjoyed watching Travis. Great at moving events!

Perhaps Z was injured but Shaw having that brilliant second day and winning a comp more suited to Zydrunas will make him probably the fav for worlds this year. That is my opinion.

Obviously Z and Thor will be right up there too but my early guess is Brian.

I agree, but there always seems to be a trade off between body weight, power and speed. If Shaw drops a few pounds heading into the Worlds he should be favored for the win. He came in at 440lbs for Arnold which serves you well for mostly static power events. WSM though usually involves more speed events which is why Thor did so well last year.

Aside from all the fan boy crap, I'm not sure if Bryan was actually that much better this year or if Z just wasn't in as good a shape as last year. Z definetly looked pretty stout on deadlift last year. Perhaps an injury did hold Z back. Who knows. Shaw has always been better than Z at dumbbell so I don't think an injury can be blamed there for sure. For the bale tote if Z hadn't screwed up at the end he would have won as he moved through the course better.....but I guess you could always say that when someone doesn't win. At the end of the day, Shaw accumulated more points, so he deserved to win.

I'm surprised Z won WSM last year as it tends to favor the quicker guy. I'd be surprised if he won this year, even if he is injury free, assuming Brian comes in a little lighter/quicker. Thor will certainly be a threat.

Is it just me, or does anyone else hate the heavy dumbbell? It just seems to me that it's becoming more about technique than strength and seems like it would be pretty dangerous for the guys. I'd like to see it replaced with Atlas Stones, rocks or something totally different. One overhead event in a competition is enough.
