christ you guys look into things so much Grin

whoever wins, wins. They are the better athlete on that day or days.

Every athlete, at all levels make mistakes.

I remember brians sandbag drop i think 2011 that cost him title that year. But Z was the better man on the day he made less mistakes.

I think WSM will be between Brian and Z this year. BAsed on the events in the final but it also depends who makes the finals as with the max log if theres a number of guys between Z and the other two it will play to his favour.

I think z will win WSM, like Hixxy says with max log in the final there could be a good point gap between z and Shaw/Thor. That'll be enough for z to win it as he stays close enough on other events.
Especially with Ed on log and Hixxy going to make final this year so he'll place higher than Shaw/Thor I believe.

Can't wait anyway!

Do you have a link for this ??

This is Brian Shaw blog about events in Arnolds: http://www.shawstrengthshop.com/blog

There is a bit on Maximum Human Performance about his training too: http://mhpstrong.com/portfolio/brian-shaw/

I'd guess Shaw came in heavy knowing it would help with wood frame carry and deadlifts.

I'm guessing Halfthor is too concerned about his looks to do this. Maybe in a few years when acting isn't paying so much he will put on the pounds to dominate the heavy lifts.

Heavy pressing is a staple of strongman. I don't get not liking one arm press.

While I'm on the hating isn't it more fun to have variation on the events between different shows. It would be dull if every show had the same events, dominated by the same people/person (cough Z).

Arnolds seems to be going for raw power. Maybe WSM come from a different angle and go agility and power. More variety=interesting watching.

Otherwise we may as well watch powerlifting!-)

With the yoke being a further distance this year it wasn't actually that bad of an event...But I am only going off the Rogue youtube vids which make everything look amazing.

I would be happy for the events to be

Log
Deadlift
Frame no straps
Yoke
Stone

I personally think having one log and one stone would be better...so 190kg log and 500lb stone. Less no lifts then and some good reps.

Hixxy,

Stop talking sense... To quote Donnie "Z lost the competition, not Shaw won it".

Let's face it, as previously stated Brian is a big weak saggy minge piece, and that's plain to see for all. I mean Shaw clearly didn't win because he's the best, Z felt pitty for poor old mingey and let him take the crown.

Not only is Z the strongest of all time, he's also clearly the kindest and follows the mantra of sharing is caring.

That would be another change to suit Z so you can probably expect it to happen.

i would love to see the heavy axle again at the arnolds. The world record at 215kg is sooo old and i can see many people getting good numbers on it.Or at least for reps.
also stones would be very cool and squat variation

Maxle would be awesome, keen to see what Hixxy and Ed could do.

Im not a big fan of DB myself, but I enjoy the lighter guys putting up their BW or more, like that Russian dude who did 105kg for 4 or 5 reps at 102kg BW.

Wasn't there an event where arbor did a world record not too dissimilar to leg toss in the Arnold's this year...?

Weight for height...?

I may he wrong big if so then there was these type of things done... Just outside of the strongman comp
