Just think if you beat it before June then you'll have a bigger front squat and a bigger deadlift. Until i max out, then you'll be behind on both lifts Happy

Found myself training at Core gym in Ballysally (yes, thats a real place). Its a crossfit gym with some decent kit, the only problem i encountered was they only had bumper plates so you ran out of room on the bar around 180kg which meant i couldnt really squat or deadlift. Otherwise it was a nice place to train.
The tyre was a bit unusual, much wider than the 350 i train on, but a lot thinner and no real tread to grip which made it an interesting change.
After a couple of sets of flips i decided it would be more useful to stand inside and just use the tyre as a frame.

Quite a hard session today, though other than the deadlifts everything moved reasonably well.
Plan was to do a few triples at 260 on squat, but the second triple was so comfortable i added some extra reps, probably had another couple in the tank as well.
Deads felt very slow, never close to failure, but not as rapid as i would expect at that weight. I suspect thats just because id pushed a bit on the squats, hopefully be much better on thursday.
First set of log presses were terrible, kept letting my elbows drop as i dipped to generate leg drive. Second and thirds sets were much better when i paid attention to my cues. Probably good for five reps on the final set, but wanted to do some duck walk so held back a little.
Duck walk itself was very easy, getting reasonably rapid with this weight, may up to the 250 next time i try it.

Speed squats and overhead tomorrow night.

Pretty happy with tonights session, squat felt rapid (though right knee is feeling rather uncomfortable) and presses were strong. Plan was 105 * 3 but i knew there was at least 5 there so kept going. Looking to test the effectiveness of these partial presses by going for a full ROM strict press pb on friday, hoping for something decent.

Got to change things up again this week so tomorrow night will be deadlifts and strict log i believe.

Light session as planned. Pressing felt decent, though strict PB was harder than i expected, think i may swap out one of my 4 log sessions a week and replace it with a 2nd strict press session. If needs be i can do the extra strict log work on a friday.
Close grip was very comfortable, probably could have got a 5th rep with 140, but didnt want to risk it as no spotter.
Finished with biceps because its sunny.

Push press and pendlay rows on the cards for tomorrow morning, and then off to a wedding, likely be a long day i fear.

Just a couple of practice pulls to try out the comp set up.


Mixed bag todays session.
Log press was great, worked up to opening weight on the comp log and it flew up effortlessly, very positive sign.
Axle deadlifts werent part of the plan, and combined with a couple of unrelated issues that was enough to stop me pulling the comp weight, but ive done it often enough before so not too worried by todays mishaps.
Medley was actually pretty easy until i got to the sled, i had the misfortune of having to do my sled drag up hill and just couldnt get into my stride, which worried me slightly until one of the strongest competitors i know also only managed to move it a little further. On the actual competition course ive no worries about finishing, and doing so in a reasonable time.
The final sled drag was on level ground and was a piece of cake.
Mas wrestling was just a tester and the only lesson i really learnt was; if i come up against someone with the weight and grip of Tom Shaw i will get violated.

Final week of training now, plan was moderately heavy doubles, but as ive pulled a muscle in my thigh i may need to ease back a bit on squats and deads just to ensure its fighting fit in two weeks.

Good session today, pressing felt strong, front squat was shockingly easy though didn't fancy trying a 2nd rep without a spotter so just held the pause a little longer for the single.
Deadlifts were solid if unspectacular, had a 3rd rep on the final set, but it would've been ugly so I resisted the inclination.

Good session today, got through quite a bit and nothing felt off which was important as this was the last serious session before North Englands.
Deadlift pb was nice, though not at all surprising, could have got a 3rd rep but it would have meant hitching, and i still feel guilty from all the hitching in my 300 triple so decided against it.
