Re-adjusted goals for 2011 as its become apparent I'm never going to be a lean 110kg lifter, even at 6'1. Realistically I'm 93kg lean, although I doubt I could compete consistently at that weight as my diet is still poor, despite the courageous efforts of my new lady friend Wink

Given I've hit 755kg in the gym I think 5-7kg of lean mass is more than enough to achieve my goal of 800kg. Current competition best is 702.5kg @ 96.5kg (250/152.5/300). It is grip issues that are preventing me from pulling 350kg and not much else to be honest.

Next comp is less than 4 weeks away, Charity event in Maidenhead. Aims for 2nd attempts are;

Squat 255kg
Bench 155kg
Deadlift 330kg

740kg @ 95kg is the goal. After that I have the push pull in May and the Open in the summer. Money assuming Worlds in Latvia after that and then work towards big old RUM for 2012 Happy

Same reason that I can't pull 300 Grin lol

Good luck, sounds like a more realistic short term goal anyway

Do you do any proper grip work to compensate for this?

You see lots of PL fail max deads due to grip....but not many SM IME

Yeah buddy, good stuff. My daily max approach for comp squats will look something like this;

(250kg max on thick 32mm bar)

All paused, belt only

1x3@120kg
1x3@140kg
1x3@160kg
1x1@180kg
1x1@200kg
1x1@220kg
1x1@240kg
6x3@120-200kg for speed/form

20-35 reps daily over 50%. Can't wait!!!

No! I've also been hampered by bicep tendonitus which stopped all upper pulling/curling for 8-10 weeks which helped me to lose a ton of grip work also. I've just started grip work now, expect it to go up fast. Will do alot of volume double overhand with no hook for a while now. Happy

1x20@60kg
1x20@70kg
1x15@80kg
1x12@90kg
1x15@60kg (just easing myself back into this)

2) REAR DELT RAISES

4 sets

3) BICEP CURLS

4 sets (2 supination with db's, 2 reverse on an ez bar)

4) LEG RAISES

4 sets

NOTES;

Good intro back into upper back work again. I have needed this sort of session for a while now, a couple of weeks of this and everything will start to pick up again! I can feel already my grip strength is returning and my arms are starting to grow again which is always good when you are working with circa 16".

Once I am ready I will move back to scap retracted chins and the like for lower rep, higher set work.

Haha! I guess I could but I seem to make better gains with 50-80% than 80-100% in the squat to be honest. Speed is a big factor in that, I have spider legs and they have to squat a loooooong way.

NOTES;

Very good session considering it was my first time at doing my main assistance exercises in about a month. Had 320kg there this morning? Next session I will reverse the order of the CDL's and pause Olympic squats as my back was too mullered by the time I came to the squats for me to give it what I needed to.
