SQUATS,
75 x5
125 x5
145 x5
175 x2
Felt fairly good, not doing as much work on my light days now but did a double just to feel a bit of weight

Deadlifts
65 x5
115 x5
165 x2
205 x2 suit
225 x2 suit
Deadlifts felt pretty good, getting used to suit now as it felt awkward last week.
Hamstring curls, hypers, abs and biceps

Fri, heavy bench
can't remember what warm ups were but I finished on a double with 195kg in a shirt, ist rep did quite touch 2nd one did and so I paused it. Felt comfortable.
Sunday Heavy squats
warmed up thoroughly
75x5
125 x5
175x2
210 x1
225 x1
225 x1
I was meant to be doing a double on 225 but due to only having one spotter I felt a bit uneasy so opted for 2 single, plenty strong enough.
Followed with some light deadlifts up to 3 reps on 160.
a few hamstrings, hypers and abs.
Had a physio treatment after on my chest shoulders and upper back, we identified a few small problems which can be easily resloved.

Took if pretty easy on monday as I was quite sore after the physio session on sunday. Just did sme assistance exercises
Weds
squats
75 x5
125 x5
165 x2
deadlifts
75 x5
125 x5
175 x2
215 x1
235 x2 felt pretty easy, last heavy DL session before contest. Will save a big DL for the day. My past couple of contests I've PB'd on the deadlift every time and feel the strategy of not pushing too hard in the gym and saving it for the contest could be a wise one.

The benching sounds like it's going very well Bryn.

Yes that's it for training this week. Just did some very light bench(65 kg), dumbell rows, upright rows and some rotator cuff exercises this evening.

Sat 31st
YNE Masters guest lifter
Weighed in at 130.9
squats
227.5 felt ok form wasn't that great-passed
235 dropped head a bit- passed
242.5 had knee wraps on tight for this one just cut the depth but form was tighter- failed on depth
bench
202.5- passed
212.5 - stalled out - failed
212.5 adjusted shirt a bit pressed it out but arse lifted off bench and was a bit messy looking so was rightly failed
Deadlift
240 -passed
257.5 passed
267.5 was a limit lift legs were shaking a bit which caused my grip to loosen
at the top of lift, slipped out of my hands.
695. total. Not my best day but it went ok and shows there is some improvement due around the corner if I can put all my lifts together on the day. Will prob do a 3 lift contest in April.

Cheers guys, it was satisfactory. Probably the biggest disappointment was not getting that last deadlift. There was no doubt the other two failed lifts were rightly failed, I knew as soon as I'd finished the bench I'd not get it. I think I can show some improvement for the next comp with any luck.

All England powerlifting championships
There were a handful of NW lifters at the event, Aaron Lohan in the 90's and Jake O'Neill (staplegun) in the 100's and myself in the 125+ category Joe Bullock was coaching Aaron and Big Jim was helping me. It was the first time I'd been to the farm club, it has a very well appointed warmup room and a nice spacious platform. Its set in a lovely area with good facilities on site and ample parking. I'ts a shame more people didn't come to spectate.
squats
230 passed
242.5 passed
252.5 passed new pb
bench
195 passed
205 passed
212.5 passed
deadlift
240 passed 2:1
250 passed
257.5 failed
Total= 715 new pb from 710 previous
Was pleased with squat and bench but unusually was off form on the deadlift on the day, knees were slightly unlocked on the first attempt but addressed it on the 2nd, the third lift was completed but my shoulders were not pulled back far enough at the completion of the lift. I'll address the deadlift problem and hopefully next time out I can add another chunk onto my total.
I lifted against Dean Bowring who went 1065kg for a new British total record and Adam Nash who went 850kg so I got a fair hiding!
So overall, pleased with the total but need to do some top end work on the deadlift. I'll probably guest at the YNE divisionals in November.
