I think so too. I saw the 170 x 4 and wondered why your PB was 185. 200 would have to be the next 1RM attempt surely.

Friday 15th June

12" botty squats: 71 x 6, 91 x 5, 121 x 4 x 5. 4mins rest between.
Leg curl: 50 x 3 x 8. 3mins rest between and supersetted with both below.
Calf raises: 121 x 3 x 8.
Hanging leg raises: 16 x 3 x 8.

I was meant to go running today but it was raining so I pushed my squat day forward one. Despite my back still being a little tender I managed a reasonable 4 sets of 5 at 121kg. Body was upright and the botty touched the box each time. All good.

I agree, you're on! Happy

Ah gotcha. So for me I'd need to buy some more rubberised ones. As you suggest I'm not likely to need more than 4 x 20kg for a good while. In fact I could probably get by with what I've got for a good while! I'll see what I can sort out in the barn floor wise. Cheers.

Oh right, so they are rubberised plates that have a larger diameter than the others? (sorry for the numpty questions yet again but I've never seen an olympic bar before!)

I bought 2 20kg rubberised discs for my set but the bloody things don't stick out over my other 20kg weights, hence the big CLANG on my concrete floor each time.

Hiya Ed. Us oldy beginners have got to stick together! I'm 35 and only started getting into PL a couple of months ago. Let's see how we get on eh. I'll be keeping an eye on your journal. Good luck mate.

Ah I see. Unfortunately I am still mostly human, being only 1/10 animal Happy

I'll stick with it and see how it goes but at the moment it's looking like PL is winning over running and if I had to drop one it would be the running. Hopefully won't have to though.

Thursday 14th June

Bench: 51 x 6, 61 x 5, 85 x 5 x 5. 4mins rest between.
Dips: BW+9 x 3 x 8. 2mins rest between.
DB oh press: 21 x 3 x 8. 3mins rest between.
push downs: 26 x 3 x 8. 2mins rest between.

Week on week I am making progress (and PBs!) on the bench. Just 2 or 3 weeks ago I put a video up of barely pushing out 3 x 85kg and now I am doing 5 x 5 and marking myself down for 86 next week. Pretty happy about it obviously.

I like the look of those and I'd really like to try some myself. Any idea what they've used on the floor there to enable you to throw down the weights without ending up in the cellar or with metal shards everywhere? Some kind of rubber matting?

At the moment if I do a clean I have to rather carefully get it back down again which is obviously restricting progress a tad!

Got any idea how long? I've been doing the running seriously since 3months and today I just found that my back felt damn sore. Now maybe I'm just a big wuss or maybe my back was about to snap, dunno, but I do hope one day that I'll be able to do both comfortably.

TBH I've found so far that I've been able to make strides in the weights but my running has fallen off badly. I'm lifting heavier and getting heavier (I've put on 2kilos in the past 1.5months) but my running has been getting slower and more painful.

Wednesday 13th June

Very slow 5km jog today. Beginning to realise that PL and running are incompatible. After my heavy deadlifts yesterday my back is still tender today and while running became quite sore. s**t.

Tokar, I wish you'd stop being so nice and tell us what you really think! Wink

Great that you got to train with some of the others on here... one day I will make an effort to get over to the old country for a bit of lifting. Good one on the PB!

Tuesday 12th June

DL: 90 x 6, 140 x 5 (fast as possible), 165 x 3 x 5, 140 x 5 (fast as possible). 4mins rest.
WG Chin: BW x 3 x 8. 2mins rest
BB rows: 60 x 3 x 8. 2mins rest supersetted with curls below
BB curls: 36 x 3 x 8.

Found the 3 sets of 165kg deadlifts tough, but I managed to get them out OK. Decided to add an extra 140kg fast set at the end just to make sure I couldn't walk upright for a couple of days Happy

Great video, didn't look like you were going to get that last viking lift but you did. Good to watch. Am I the only one sometimes sat here saying out loud, "come on!" Happy
