www.dieselcrew.com and www.crossfit.com are useful as well.

Crazy to suggest that there's no more to getting strong than 'just squat' or 'just deadlift'. Learning more about your sport and how different people have achieved what you desire is essential for success.

Here's some good websites:
http://synergy-athletics.com/

www.exrx.net

www.t-nation.com - half bodybuilder rubbish, half really useful articles. Check out eric cressey or mike robertson particularly

www.performancemenu.com

www.mikesgym.org - Mike Burgener's website. Legendary weightlifting coach

http://bennsweightliftingvideos.info/ amazing, slow-motion vids of weightlifters

www.elitefts.com

www.westside-barbell.com

http://triggerpoints.net/ - Sort your pain out yourself

I'd be up for this, for sure. Put my name down! Just need to practice some strongman now...

High gravity days are a legit phenomenon man! Keep plugging away at it

Had a look through itunes for stuff that you'd like if you like slayer and pantera and this is what came out:

The Haunted - anything, but particularly 'Made me do it'. If you like Slayer then you will love these

Through the eyes of the dead - annihilation of expectation

The black dahlia murder - miasma

Cult of luna - the beyond

Into the moat - the design

Mastodon - anything

Meshuggah - Catch 33, Chaosphere

Necrophagist - epitaph

Scissorfight - mantrapping for sport and profit

Yeah I was gonna suggest using straps - make little handles with them. You should be able to front squat without holding anything on the bar though, just have it sat on your shoulders with your arms out in front of you. So long as you elbows are high, you're good. Check this vid, pretty cool: http://www.performancemenu.com/wod/video/noHandsCleanJerk.mov

The ironworks are a good idea, you can get the knees more forward of the ankle so your upper body stays more upright, which makes it easier to keep the bar on the shoulders.

The best bit is when they're talking about the rowers and then the presenter says, 'and now onto a real man, a strong man' (!!!!) How good is that!

Hey guys, hopefully will be down for a sunday in the near future - are complete strongman novices welcome? I've trained at olympic a few times in the past but not had a crack at any of the strongman stuff, and I'd really like to. It's a great setup you have there Mark.
» How small are Adidas Ironworks III? (Go to post)29-04-2009 @ 12:38
Yeah, it's a good one. That site is absolute genius.
» How small are Adidas Ironworks III? (Go to post)28-04-2009 @ 22:08
The ironworks are a really narrow fit, some people can't get a good size with them because of that. You could try some Do Wins or the posh new Nike ones if you can find them - I know the Do wins are wider and they have an even bigger heel, which you might like!
» Weightlifting Chalk (Go to post)28-04-2009 @ 22:05
Apart from getting everywhere, powdered chalk ends up getting breathed in which isn't good.
» Weightlifting Chalk (Go to post)28-04-2009 @ 20:02
The chalk balls and bags (any jokes welcome) that climbers use are quite handy - the chalk's as good as any and the bag stops you getting it everywhere, whilst still getting plenty on your hands. The blocks seem to break after a while and get chalk everywhere, which defeats the point somewhat.
