That is not an excuse and is dissrespectful to the other strongmans. No point being in the game if you are not in it 100%.

davycummings said:Yeah I happen to really like him as a Strongman, in part for the kind of thing that Loz mentioned, but also because of the entertainment he adds.

Ok you are a fan, I'm a casual observer, Misha is carrying on with his life somewhere and you are here as a fan defending him to the bitter end.

As an aside though, the cutting it remark was perhaps a bit of an exaggerated expression. so apologies for the reactions it provoked.

what do you mean couldn't cut it in WSM? did he not place third? and has he not had podium finishes this year in the strongman champions league? has he not also had podium finishes at IFSA comps?
i think he has for you to say he couldn't cut it if a little off. it like saying you can cut it at national level powerlifting or regionals if you changed from powerlifting to snooker.
so i think that comment is harsh

Well I know he has a lot of fanboys on the forum, but I can assure you that history won't remember 3rd place.

Time to play it safe I guess. couldn't cut it in WSM. good luck to the lad.

Cuddles said:When organisations need support, they need new members.

Not allowing people to pay a day rate membership or a late year membership may put them off powerlifting or the association full stop. Then 'support' has not gone up at all.

The fact is that lots of people will do their first comp not knowing if they will enjoy it/want to continue. Charging them £40 + entry fees might put off a lot of potential new powerlifters.

Well carl is hardly a newbie now is he, the only thing it will put off are the cheapskates.

icepick, you didnt think i wanted to pay a nominal membership fee, then only do one comp did you?

well that idea is the only way to cement your commitment to do comps the following year. No offence, but I wouldn't trust you to pay a nomimal fee on the premise of promising to rejoin next year.

It's a major games so wont ever concern you one way or another. No one's really interested in the inexperienced ramblings of a divisional level powerlifter.

sounds like you're still hurt from my previous ramblings.

DANGERUSS said:What they should do, and have seen done before in BPO is offer a discounted end of year membership, but force you to pay up for the following year also. Then everyone is a winner..

So if membership is £50 and you want to join in oct charge £75 for end of this year and whole of next?

that is a good idea.

It seems very short sighted not having an end of year membership to me.
Somebody like Carl is a good example - even if all the reduced membership was all swallowed up by insurance and admin costs he would have still joined next year and the Federation would have had an extra member.

yea but what good will it be if he waited next year to do the same thing. You did get a lot of divison lifters resorting to these tactics as a lot of the divisionals are at the end of the year

i dont want to pay £40 to do 1 bench only comp, joining up for a year is different, but than paying £80 to do 1 qualifier and then 1 comp is a bit much
still argumentative as ever i see Roll-Eyes

well you're paying for the infrastructure that is in place to allow you to do the comp in the first place, I couldnt care less if the comp was on dec 31st. You're still a yound lad though, so I guess you can be excused for being a narrow minded cheapskate.
