Sept 9/09 @ North Bay YMCA Bit of dumbell benching / dislocates / pullaparts to warm up Speed Bench: 45x8 +doubled minis 45x8 5x135x3 3x185x3 JM Presses - 4 or 5 somewhat tough sets of 8 Well I found my new gym and actually met a powerlifter (who's even in my program haha). He was wearing an EFS shirt in class, and is almost as fat as me. We were pretty much seperated at birth lol. The YMCA is pretty sick too; not busy at all, and there's an olympic lifting section.. as soon as the oly guys see my briefs, bands, boxes, and boards, they'll probably hate me, but for now it's cool haha

» Westside Training Info (Go to post) | 31-08-2009 @ 16:47
Not sure if it's "less popular" Hazz - Westside training isn't really a program but a set of principles, so although plenty are still using it, they might look very different (plus top guys know exactly how to tailor their programs; you won't see many top guys following a WSB Template) Paul - You've pretty well got it pal. Less overload work is needed for the most part because you don't have to worry about handling 150% of your best raw squat. Someone who misses their benches on the chest probably doesn't need as much lockout work. Box squats are still an awesome lift but imho a few more free squats should be thrown in depending on how you squat - someone with a narrow stance who divebombs their desent would probably be better off atleast doing some kind of regular squatting on occassion. Etc etc |
