So my back is still f**ked, right in the lower back, feels like it's in the muscle or maybe nerves? I don't know, but it's ok with Ibruprofen so time for a session. Light? Nah..

Overhead / Shoulders Session.

Trained 7:30 ish - 8:45 at X4L Leeds with the Champ 'Baby' Sob.

Strict Press

20 x 10
20 x 10
40 x 5
50 x 5
70 x 2 PB - Now Sob had 70 on for a warmup so I thought I'd have a go.. my previous 1rm was 65kg from 2 months ago so I've added 5kg and done a double!
55 x 8 PB

Push Press

So my 1rm from again 2 months ago was 72.5kg. I did 70 x 4 last week so I knew there was more there..

80 x 4 PB
90 x 2 PB - that's smashing my previous PB by 15kg and doubling it! Well happy and my shoulders are getting much stronger Grin
95 x F - had 3 attempts after unracking, think it was tiredness more than anything.

I was wrapped up tight with a lumber support and belt so these didn't really affect my back.. much Happy

Side Raises

5s x 10 x 3 - both arms same time

Barbell Front Raises

20 x 10 x 3

Seated DB Press

Now I've not done these in at least 3 years, but Sob is into his BB'ing style training and I asked him to make my shoulders like his Wink

25s x 6
30s x 4
25s x 4 - now these were hurting/putting lots of pressure on my back so stopped.

Happy though as never pressed DBs anywhere near this weight. I think the last time I did them I was prob doing around 16s for 10x3 or something gay.

Dips

BW x 10
BW x 8

Finished there, wanted to do some CGBP but there was no bench free and couldn't be arsed hanging around, was knackered and sweating my tits off in the hot gym.

I do Wendler's and I find it very good. I pretty much always know my max's accurately and the last time I based it on 100% rather than 90%, not what he says to do, but I do what works for me. Sometimes I add in some heavy singles too.

I probably should stick to it rigidly but I just use his system to work my own training out, if I want to go heavier I can. There is a couple of really good apps for the iphone/Android, one is just a calculator and the other plans your whole cycle and you can change the training max if you like.

I have pdf copies of both the original 531 and 531 for powerlifting which I can send by email. If anyone wants them sending then drop me a PM Happy

Cheers pal, I feel sore esp my lower back! I'm glad I've popped my cherry and tbh can't wait to do another one Happy

The Yoke was dropped down to 250kg, the sandbag was around 95kg and the frame 200kg, so fairly heavy for novices.

Cheers Jay and Mark. And yes the sport is definitely for me now, I needed a replacement for rugby. I had a great day. I will go away now and start training hard, my pressing needs a lot of work.
