Ahem, the doctor says...

No, seriously, the guys who've posted have already covered the main points. Dehydration is the main culprit here, so make sure you're getting your fluid intake right. If you're prone to cramp, I would recommend 10L of water a day or even more if you can.

How many times round the knee can you get with 2m wraps when wrapping for max efforts?

Also, are wrap rollers a waste of money? I saw a guy use them at my last meet and they looked pretty dandy. In fact, I made a few tentative steps towards the big guy in a sort of 'please may I use your machine' kinda way and he just glowered at me in a sort of 'don't talk to me, I'm about to open on 300kg!'

Nice training Sam. The squats in the last vid looked very smart.

Thanks mate. Squat form feels really good; only thing is that I should be making 180x4 look as easy as that 140x4 Unhappy Oh well!

This is not strictly someone I work with, but back in Feb 06, I sewed together some farmer's hand after he'd macerated it with a saw and I still get fresh eggs from his farm every month!

I found Jaffa cales pretty good last time I competed.

He sounds promising and has a bit of healthy attitude which helps...all champions have a bit of attitude. I wish him all the best.

Thanks Neil! So, you living in France?!

BOR = bent over row
» Ryan Kennelly 1070lbs Bench World Record (Go to post)14-04-2008 @ 14:20
Yes, it is a helluva weight indeed. Jesus, I'd love to SQUAT half that weight, let alone bench it. BUT, I just can't find it in me to give lifts like that much credit to be honest. The standard of reffing is atrociously bad, it's like one big boys club!

There's a lot of rubbish knocking about what Ryan can or can't do raw. In my opinion, it's all s**te. In my eyes he does nothing raw until I see him compete under proper rules with proper reffing. To call him the best bencher in the world is very misleading to outsiders who know very little about the sport. I personally think some of the big IPF benchers like Ove Lehto are far more superior, but that's just my opinion. I would respect Kennelly much more if he pressed 900lbs with good form in competition instead of that 1070.

Benches..60x5...82.5x5x2sets....95x5...112.5x2x3sets...117.5x3x3sets

BOR...60..70...75....80x10's
rear delt..15x3sets
Bicep curl..40x8x3sets

Feeling good with this high volume benching at the mo. Flat bench is basically the only pressing movement I'm doing at the moment and I've dropped all dumbbell work/incline work etc. I bench 4x per week, squat and deadlift 2x per week and that's it. The little bit of stuff I do after benching on bench only days is basically there to keep the shoulder capsule healthy. It seems to be working for now, so I'll keep at it.
» front squats (Go to post)14-04-2008 @ 10:26
front squats are good as a variant on say, a second squat day, but I've found high bar squats to be more effective (olympic weightlifting squats) - like front squats they force you to stay more upright but are easier to learn; do them without a belt and your abs and lower back will get a proper hammering.

Not too impressed to be honest. That was a s**te lift - touch and go and not locked.

Meatheads intimidating refs to pass lifts in my opinion - farce.

The faster these ridiculous bench only American comps leave the powerlifting scene, the better it will be for the sport...Unfortunately, I can't see that happening any time soon.
