thinking about adding these on 3rd workout day in gym. few have said would be good to squat twice a week, maybe more speed on second i think, and been thinking about this variation.

is there much benefit over the normal squat?

cheers

front squats are good as a variant on say, a second squat day, but I've found high bar squats to be more effective (olympic weightlifting squats) - like front squats they force you to stay more upright but are easier to learn; do them without a belt and your abs and lower back will get a proper hammering.

Strongman right?

I reckon they'd be a great addition for you, I did them after deadlifts for a few months when I was around your sort of strength level, then normal squats another session in the week. My deadlift and squats flew up - although I agree there's plenty of things you could do at that stage to do that, but it did work well for me.

I would get them in with your deadlifts personally, either before or after, it doesn't really matter. 4 days of hard lower body training and squatting the day after deadlifts could be tough, especially when you had that dodgy back a while ago.

hmmmm, see what your saying. could be a bit much if i do split it with lower body, as always do find it harder to recover. could juggle bits around, and have that 3rd day as more upper body.
