For 2009 the venue was officially announced at the end of July. I think it was a bit earlier in 07 and 08, but it seems to be around summer. Bulls**t rumours, however, will start fairly soon I would think.

Wayne_Cowdrey said:Although I don't have Sky TV myself, I'm currently with family who do have it. I've been looking forward to 7pm all day. Anyone have any idea when the heats/final from Malta are being shown?? Bravo clearly hasn't got a clue When did Bravo say that it was heat 1 tonight? Their website and EPG have been announcing it as Mohegan for a while.I haven't had the tv on so I assume that they have been trailing it as heat 1 today?

I ordered a pair of boots directly from the US having asked Pete about them, and I think that they arrived within 6 weeks. Very solid they are too.

Fortissimus was IFSA CL from Canada, etc. The EPG's are done by someone who hasn't got a clue. I don't really give a s**t what they call it as long as they show what they are scheduled to anddont change it an hour beforehand.

Joni said: hey its a big thing that mark won the squat - destroys that myth that he is just a deadlift guy right there and then! I don't think that anyone who has more than a cursory interest in strongman ever believed that he was a one-trick pony. It will hopefully help put a bit of an end to the Mark-bashing which seemed to happen every now and again though. Good man.

Martin1956 said: But eliminating the guy who came second in one of the events is just wrong, wrong, wrong. Maybe they were scared he'd eliminate a 'name'? I hope he comes back and kicks serious arse next year, but I also hope we don't lose a top powerlifter in the process. I did note the smiley Martin, and know that it was said with a hint of mischief, but I don't think that Ade set the comp up with the intention of screwing Mick over. A good number of people had no clue whatsoever who he was. (That changed after he deadlifted!)He may have performed very well in the remaining events if he had got a rep on the viking press, but that also applies to the the other lads who got eliminated, Simon Flint in particular. I agree entirely about the disparity between the weights and events at the qualifiers.

As a cycling nut, I saw the riders protest on tv, and read about this on a few sites. Absolutely f**king shocking, but a surprise? Not really. Nothing surprises me about the manner of the testing now, nor the way that they are conducted. The whole issue with Rasmussen saying 'I was in Italy, er, I mean Mexico' when he missed his final out of comp test last year, and the his disqualification from the TDF has meant that they have tightened the screw even more.
