Iain is right, get some comp experience under your belt before you start worrying about qualifiers. Its so easy to fail a lift coz of something stupid rather than pure strength. I have in the past had a habbit of failing bench (moving my feet, or using my chest to bounce the bar after the pause). I also nearly failed a lift as I didnt hear my name being called, there is a timeout of I think 1 minute.

Get used to the comp environment, the warming up, the clothes (leotard, shoes, socks etc). Get used to being competition judge on a platform infront of refs and spectators.

Also if you are near the top end of your weight class you need to be thinking about your weight and how to not be over.

How strict are you with things like food, alcohol, training, sleep etc in the days or possibly weeks leading up to a comp.

Thursday's "Purbeck" Session

Squats

  • 90K x 5
  • 120K x 5
  • 130K x 3
  • 135K x 3
  • 140K x 2 - PB FOR REPS!!! (current best competition single)
  • 140K x 3 - PB FOR REPS!!!
  • 145K x 2 - PB FOR REPS!!!

Probably my best squat session in the last year. I should be good 147.5K single, maybe even a 150K. Dropping down to sets of 3 has really helped me.

Deadlifts (using small diameter plates)
  • 147K x 5
  • 167K x 5
  • 172K x 5
  • 175K x 5 - last rep hitched

The main focus of deadlifts tonight was to keep an eye on my form and not lean back so much at the top of the lift as injury will occur. Good news my form was better but I missed getting the last rep. Overall very pleased.
