Happy New Year I have been savaged by sickness/diarrhoea for the last 4 days and I am far from better and have hardly been able to eat a thing. I hate to think of how much strength I have lost.

Thursdays "Purbeck Session" Squats
All solid, pleased here Bench (touch and go)
Yet another awesome bench session Deadlift (using small diameter plates)
Felt battered after squats and struggled abit on deadlifts even though I opted for an easier session. I wont be training now for a week as away over new year. Paul

Post Edited: 24.12.2007 @ 20:13 PM Xmas Eve's "Purbeck Bench Session" Bench (All touch and go)
Probably the best bench session in a long while, really chuffed. I have narrowed my grip a fraction and am really driving through my feet more. I am now off to eat some roses choccies, mmmm Paul

Like Iain says a slightly lighter week could be done, but don't not train just for the sake of it. I think thats far too broad a statement. The occasional time off can do people good for a variety of reasons, mentally as well as physically. I have read that Andy Bolton can take upto two weeks off before a competition, lots of stronger lifters will also have some time off following competition. Getting stressed about missing a week of training at Christmas is silly, just enjoy it, only happens once a year! If you have some weight in the shed just tick over with that. Yes I agree, I never train within a week prior to a comp. Yeah sure sometimes taking a week off can be good, and yes taking a week off over xmas won't hurt. However if you are fully fit and are able to train then IMO train. I personally very rarely take any time off of training, I often re-arrange training days to fit round my life but only maybe once a year (apart from prior to comps) take a whole week off. Paul

Thursday's Purbeck Session" Squats
pretty pleased with these. Deadlifts (using small diameter plates
Not happy with deads, I think I didnt take enough rest between the 3rd and 4th set, also probably still not recovered fully from the comp. On the plus side, my form was really good, no hyper-extending at the top which equals a pain free lower back. Paul
