» best way to carb up (Go to post) | 16-11-2007 @ 17:26
from what I have read supercompensation can work effectively. This works by first carb depletion and then re-carbing. The effect is that you will be able to store more carbs than you could before. I am not too sure about the timimgs of this.

Post Edited: 16.11.2007 @ 12:57 PM Thursday's "Purbeck" Session Squats
fairly happy with my squats this week, 132.5K felt solid, will try and push it up next week Deadlifts (using small diameter plates)
Again great deadlift session, I had my doubts about whether I would get all the reps on the last set, but got them all, no hitching, all smooth!!. Paul

» What order would you have the lifts in? (Go to post) | 13-11-2007 @ 12:52
yep agree, order is right as it is. Squats and deads use the same muscles, so it would make sense to have a large gap to aid with recovery. If you think you are going to cramp, chuck on lots of warm clothes, drink plenty of water and go for a walk to keep yourself warmed up. After lifting I usually put a trackie top back on and possibly my trackie bottoms.
» weaknesses and the plan to fix them (Go to post) | 13-11-2007 @ 00:27
MY Bench - I have put ZERO Kilos on my 1RM in a year. I think I have long arms which is why I am comparitively better at deadlifting. With bench I either pick up an injury or I suddenly my strength randomly goes and I end up having to drop 10KG off my repping weight.
» How much pain do you live with?? (Go to post) | 13-11-2007 @ 00:22
- bad thorasic section of my back, stiff and causes me pain, usually stretching, cracking and mobilisation of the vertibrae helps but it never seems to go. As a result my right shoulder hunches forward which makes the problem worse - just recovering from impingement in my right shoulder - I seem to have a weak muscle on the bottom left side of my back which can get pulled by standing up off a chair sometimes. Not too bad compared to some of you poor buggers

Post Edited: 13.11.2007 @ 00:16 AM Sunday's "Fitness First" Session done MondayDue a short spell of alcohol induced "flu bug" I wasnt in the best condition to train sunday so I trained tonight (monday) Bench - all touch and go unless stated
Pretty happy, strength is coming back on bench, shoulder is feeling even better this week, its now not effecting me, although I can still feel it very slightly. The 90K single felt solid, the 92.5K felt like its nearly there. I think the 92.5K will be back there within a few weeks. DB Bent over Rows
I also included plenty of rotar cuff work, also did some pull-ups, machine chest flies, dips, curls etc. Paul

Carl said: i think your forgetting that its not a requirement to use ped's at a bpc/bpo comp, its simply untested If you didnt use drugs and competed in non-tested comps then you are surely disadvantaged.

The way forward I think for PL is to promote the drug free feds. I can't see how you can raise the profile and encourage non-lifters by supporting untested feds (just my view). I personally would like to see PL become an olympic sport 1 day and drug free is the only way forward for that. If you have/had say a 15yr kid interested in PL, would you want them at an untested comp, I know I wouldnt The Welsh idea seems to me to be a happy medium and is a solution for a unique situation. However I would be interested in whether it breaks any BWLA rules.

rotar cuff work is also a good idea to help your bench

» Joint tested and non tested comp (Go to post) | 12-11-2007 @ 13:00
I personally think that mixing tested and un-tested is not a good idea. BWLA members are anti drugs (or at least they should be) so running a comp with ppl on performance enhancers seems to me to go against the grain. I know a lot of BWLA lifters who wouldnt actually spectate at a non-tested comp purely on the fact its not tested. To get more lifters I think PL needs to be advertised more. For example how do I find out about BWLA comps?, I usually hear through the grapevine. The SW doesnt even have a website thats operational and up-to-date. more advertising is the key IMO. Paul |
