Before training with the girlfriend I trained alone so I didn't have that problem. If you already have training partners it could be different.

my missus used to pop along every now and then and took it serious, trained properly and didn't arse about like you see some women, I got on with my thing and she did hers, worked well, only you know really mate, she sounds like she has some drive and determination and goals at least, which is most important thing imo.

Me & Mr G train together the majority of the time & it works well. We have another lad that trains with us which took a while to find because no one wanted to train with us....chicken s**ts. Other chap was needed because Mr G, though highly self motivated, also needed someone to butt heads with comptetively on the poundage. It was great for me because I was always upping my game & my concept of strong has always been based on male strength...if they can do it then i am fcking going to have a go lol...maybe slightly less. If I didn't train with men then I don't think I would be as strong as I am because I would have had different comparisons.
I have a group of women who train together and there just isn't enough aggression....moving big weights isn't baking fcking cupcakes & that aggression has to be brought to the floor. I personally could not lift with a bunch of women in general.

Changing the weight all the time can be a pain but othetwise, if they are serious about it and not just wanting to fanny around, then i think its a good thing.

My g/f is a bit annoying though as she has a massive amount of natural strength and seems to lose none, if not gain, by not doing any training.

I'd say it's a great idea milsy. My wife started lifting last week but insisted on deadlifts and squats because she has heard me prattle on about them being the core of any decent weight programme.

She trains at home with the set we have here twice a week and comes to the gym with me either on a pressing or squat day. She is loving it so far and it's got us talking about things other than the kids.
