Yeah, at least that's a lockout I managed yesterday.

He had some people come over to view the property. If the chubb wasn't locked when he got there, then he shouldn't have locked it when he left. We managed to stay with a neighbour and have tea but I was crashing and almost fell asleep on the floor. Got into the flat at 10pm last night.

Was nothing special, but thanks anyway!

Squat day today. No belt. Flat soled shoes for all sets just to see if I'm any better in these/to see if depth was cut short. No problems with depth. No rest between warmup sets, a minute or so before the final set.

Bar x 5
55kg x 5
75kg x 5
95kg x 5
130kg x 7 - traps burning, grip going, lungs going etc.

Box squats - 2" below //
95kg x 2
105kg x 2
115kg x 2
125kg x 2
135kg x 1 (failed 2nd)

Leg press
Few sets of 8

Leg ext
Up to 79kgx10 followed by several drops

Foam rolling for ITB, hamstring stretches, hip flexors etc. Back hasn't seized up yet.

So how was the flat soled? I assume you usually use a oly shoe.

I use oly shoes and always have but was wondering what difference flat would make as a lot of big squatters seem to do it.

Oly shoes are easier to hit well below parallel in. I went through a phase of using them (oly) for a couple of months with lighter weights and doing lighter weights, more reps and deeper squats with a high bar stance in order to make it all less efficient, then when I go back to wider, flat soled powerlifting style, in theory I should be able to get some bigger numbers. Having my back mess up after every squat session means I can't handle more than 135kg or so. having said this, my back actually feels ok after today's session.

My biggest squats have been with a wider stance (wider than the power rack at this gym permits) and a flat soled shoe. Would be good to hit 170-180kg for a couple of reps with just a belt, but I doubt my back can handle it. I may have to stick to 5-10 rep squats.

The lady wanted me to keep her company at the gym, so went for the sake of going. Wasn't supposed to do any training but

Seated side raises
Work sets - 10kg x 8,8,8

Seated fronts
10kg x 8,8,8

Seated dumbbell shoulder press
20s x 5
30s x 5
35s x 3

Hang cleans
55kg x 5
65kg x 5,5,5

Wrist roller - few messabout sets. Feels like rolling up knee wraps, only harder

SLDL standing on box - bar touching feet on the way down
65kg x 5,5,5

About 5-6 sets of abs.

Hamstrings are hurting today from the easy SLDL's so instead of doing deads, i'll do some assistance work. Thinking a day of pendlay rows to help with stones.

Hams feeling battered so no deadlifts

Pendlay rows (on a bit of an incline)
55 x 8
75 x 8
95 x 6 or 7 maybe

Seated rows with rope
Stack x 8/8 8/8 8/8

Speed pulls (conv, no belt)
Up to 135kg for a couple of reps but back playing up too much to give it some

52mm holds
Up to 60kg plus bar for a (very quick) count of 20

Pullups
BW x 3
20kg x 3
30kg x 3
32.5kg x 3

Probably some other bits and bobs.

No smoking = grumpy Funky Monkey

Shoulders today

VG Press
Bar x 5
35kg x 5
50kg x 5
62.5kg x 7 REP PB
62.5kg x 3 - WTF.

Close grip bench
60kg x 3
75kg x 3
95kg x 3
107.5kg x 2

Bench
95kg x 8 (first time i've repped out for a while)

Dumbbell jerk (well, push press and this explains the crap numbers)
30s x 3/3
35s x 3/3
40s x 5/5

Dumbbell clean - 10 reps alternating sides

Tricep ext
Stack x 12, then lots of drop sets

Abs x a couple of sets

No idea where the 7 reps came from on the VG press, I double checked the weight and it was definitely correct. In hindsight, maybe I should've just done 5, then done 3 sets of that. PB nonetheless.

Cheers. Hoping to get it up to 120ish, which is what it used to be in my "better" days. Regular bench was far better, now regular and close grip seem to be about the same.

Those numbers are NOT an accurate representation of what my numbers are like now. Having them so embarrassingly low in terms of Sugden (no offense to you as our numbers are the same) means that I'm striving to get them up. I would take advice given to me based on the total a person can lift - theoretical knowledge is one thing, but having a 200kg raw bench regardless of "supplements" gets a LOT of respect from me. I've got my current numbers as baseline figures, and am striving to get them to a level i'm not ashamed of. No idea of exact numbers, but training seems to be progressing slowly. I know I want 600kg+ raw at 82 again, but that would mean I need to find a decent job and just work, eat and train. At the moment, I'm not doing too much of any of the above.

Once my bench returns to 130kg or so, I might give shirted benching another go, although I was hitting 155kg for an easy single back then before shirting up. I've just got zero motivation to do anything. I'll definitely be suiting up for deadlifts for my strongman competition sometime next month though (shows how prepared I am, I don't even know the date or the events)

fair enough

oh and no offence taken here lol, it is almost embarassing but I do it for the same reason. I will gain satisfaction to have a total under my name that starts with a 5. And so on and beyond

Buy a bench shirt, knee wraps and a squat suit (this can also be used to deadlift in) and watch those numbers climb up to a 7....
