I'll start with a very quick background: I've been on Sugden for nearly six years but haven't posted regularly for (at least) the last couple so most of you (probably) won't know me.

I've trained very inconsistently since about 2005 and, at best, would describe myself as a 'journeyman' Strongman - an 'ex' one at that.

I want to deadlift, at least, 300kg at some point in my life so I thought that I should get moving.

Enough of that...

20/12/12

Deadlift

various warmups
220kg X 2
220kg X 2

Push Press

warmups
100kg X 1
105kg X f

I then had a go at some Pendlay rows before heading home.

24/12/12

Deadlifts

warmups
230kg X f (I was very confident that I would manage a single but I failed at the knees)
200kg X 5
200kg X 5

Push Press

warmups
100kg X 1
105kg X 1
105kg x f

Some more Pendlay Rows.

I'm intentionally keeping things very simple at the moment. If I manage to be consistent with this style of training, I'll 'complicate' matters in the near future.

Dan Baker, President of the Australian Strength & Conditioning Association, was in the gym this morning and we had a really good chat. Just a few minutes of talking to a bloke with that kind of knowledge was priceless, IMHO.Happy

Cheers, Will.

Yeah, I'm in Oz now - that's how I've already managed to 'squeeze in' a session on '24/12'. Happy

Cheers, John. It looks like I'll need to join the 'race to 300kg' for the DL. Let's say that my current max is 225kg (seeing that I failed 230kg but didn't actually attempt the 225 on the way).

Cheers, Faz. I can't believe that I've not (really) progressed since I met you all those years ago. It's totally my own fault (for having diabolical/non-existent training habits) but I'm just feeling a bit of regret right now. I suppose that it's better to feel regret now, though, than in another 10 years.
