I've moved between jobs and between gyms in the last few weeks so training has been even more inconsistent (sorry, non-existent).

Anyway, I tested my 1RM deadlift on my first session back (last Friday). 250kg was reasonably comfortable and 260kg stalled at my knees. I also did quite a bit of push pressing during that session.

On Monday, I deadlifted 240kg for 3 singles followed by push presses and front squats.

Today, I virtually had the gym to myself so I decided to do 20 singles with 105kg on the push press.

No training for a month then a 250kg deadlift - good going!

Nice session on the push press too.

How's teaching in Oz?

Cheers, I was deadlifting with straps at the other gym. I think that was keeping my numbers down. I presume that I'm one of the few people that actually lifts more with just good old chalk.

The new gym is a Crossfit/weightlifting gym so they've got some nice jerk blocks - no eccentrics on those push presses.

Neither of the jobs that I'm referring to involve(d) teaching. I updated my pool lifeguard qualifications so now work at a local pool. I might not do it forever but I'm enjoying the reduced stress - everyone's so good at swimming out here. Grin

Some recent lifts:

Power Jerk 120kg single
FTOH 117.5kg single
Deadlift 230kg x 5

When I add about 10% to each of these lifts, I think that I'll be close to having some kind of strength to 'work with'.

I've done *some* training recently but I need to do more. I deadlifted 230kg for 6 this morning. I think that I should be aiming for 240kg for 8 within 5 or 6 weeks.

I got a couple of decent sessions in this week. On Tuesday, I found a very good strongman gym with just about every bit of equipment that could be required - 3 logs, 2 axles, yoke, farmers, sleds and over 20 atlas stones. I mainly concentrated on my log and finished with a 107. I would possibly have had 110-115 on the press but it was the first time that I'd attempted a log since 2009 and I was struggling with the cleans. This morning, I was back on the deadlifts, I worked up to 240kg for 5. I quickly followed that with 210kg x 8. There wasn't much left in the tank after these.

Yesterday saw a crappy pressing session - the weights were nearly 10kg down, compared to recently, but they still felt as heavy.

This morning, a solid deadlift session which finished with 245kg for 3.
