Nice to see you back at it Pete

Even with little or no training, you always tended to retain nice base strength, especially on the DL

Cheers, JC.

Yeah, my deadlift was never too bad (relative to the lack of training). I suppose, it's the other lifts (particularly pressing) that need a massive improvement.

It was a bit of a mixed session today. Basically, I did (just about) the same exercises as in the previous session - with varied results.

27/12

Deadlifts

warmups
205kg X 5

Pendlay rows

Warmups
110kg X 3
110kg X 3
110kg X 3

(Paused) Squats

warmups
140kg X 3 - well within my comfort zone

Push Press

warmups
95kg x 1, f2 - I was aiming for 3 but got nowhere with these today.

I'm completely embarrassed about the pressing but reasonably satisfied with the rest.

I've (probably) made some unwise training choices over the last few days in an attempt to 'accelerate' Roll-Eyes my gains (sorry, gainz).

28/12

(On 27/12) A bloke at the gym said he wanted to train some deadlifts with me,"tomorrow". I agreed so, in other words, I started with the DL for the second consecutive day.

warmups
210kg X 3
210kg x 3

Cleans

numerous reps at several different weights

Home!

29/12

We've got a chin-up bar and a pair of dip bars at work so I did several chins and numerous dips throughout the day.

30/12

Similar to the previous day.

31/12

In hindsight, I don't think that I had fully recovered from the 'exertions' of the previous four days as I had a crap session today.

ATG Squat

warmups
140kg X 3
150kg X f - I was aiming for 3-5 so was pretty pissed off about this.

Strict Press

warmups
70kg X 3 - easy (as it should be)
75kg x f - embarrassed and pissed off

I'm resting tomorrow as the gym is closed. Wednesday will witness an improved session.

Good to see u back mate, dont be too harsh on the pressing, I'd be happy with that on less than consistant trainkng

Push press is similar to mine and I've not stopped training!

With a good pressing routine you could put decent weights overhead. 130 would be a good aim for you.

To be honest, my lack of patience has always resulted in me becoming demotivated because I haven't turned into Big Z overnight. lol. I can't let that happen again.

I plan to, cheers.

Similar to you at push pressing? Is this the 'Mills Modesty Syndrome' again? Confused

I'm certainly aiming for 130+. Like I said, I just need some more patience.

Cheers for the encouragement - all of you.

4/1/13

Deadlifts

warmups then...
220kg x 3
225kg X 1, f2 (should have got the second rep but I didn't manage to lock it out and I'm enforcing a 'no hitch' policy on myself)
225kg X f (I'm was determined to get a double on this set but, somehow, didn't even manage the first rep)
200kg x 6 (I probably had 8 reps in me but left it for another day)

Pendlay Rows

warmups then...
Some really snappy work with 70kg for a few sets of 3
115kg x 3
115kg x 3

Push Press

warmups then...
90kg x 3 (easy)
95kg X 2, f3 (should have had the third)
85kg X 5 (again, easy)

Same three exercises again. Yeah, I need to stop pussying out of squats but I'm quite 'proud' Wink Roll-Eyes of myself just for training.

Deadlift

warmups then...
200kg x 8

Deficit Pulls (probably 2 inches)

180kg X 10

Push Press

warmups then...

Plenty of (snappy) singles with a light weight (80kg)
90kg X 5

Pendlay Rows

warmups then...
110kg X 5
110kg X 5

The plan with the deadlift is to get to 220kg for 8-10 reps by mid/late February. 205kg for 8 will go next session without a problem. Then I'll aim for some basic linear progression to get the next 15kg for the same amount of reps.

I'll then formulate a plan to get to 250kg for 5 by May (?).
