thinking of running a strongman competition in the Livingston area that would be open to anyone and I want to see how much interest there is. I'm aiming it more at intermediate competitiors as their seems to be a big jump from novice to opens. I'm thinking November would be a good time as I have access to a very large workshop with heating and toilets and changing rooms and vending machines and various amazing things like that.

events would be along these lines

- Log for reps, 100kg approx, 90sec
- Axle deadlift for reps, 250kg, 60sec. straps but no suits.
- 300kg yoke for 12m then straight into a power stairs. not sure of weight to use on power stairs though, will set it up and try. probably head to head.
- arm over arm for height. like this from the 43min mark http://youtu.be/u8DECs72W4 in the 1983 WSM. not sure of weight, again will check closer to the time. epic 80s hair will obviously mean more points
- Overhead medley. 2 circus dumbbells, probably 42 and 53, one large monster dumbbell around 60 and some random metal block in the region of 80 that I'll borrow from one of the heighbouring fabricators
- stones. not sure if it'll be arnold style or for height. stones for height might be a bit different but I'm not sure if people would be interested

entry would probably be around £10, with t-shirts etc. and first prize would be anything up to a value of £1 from the aforementioned vending machine.
so who's interested?

I think Stones with high platforms is a stupid event as it needlessly gives taller people an advantage. Just my opinion. Rest of the comp sounds cool though!

Great sounding events!

Those events would be outstanding buddy

I'd wager Mark Hunter would be well up for this

(he was the rocket with a Mohawk in a lumberjack style body warmer who was watching at the weekend)

Stick my name down & I'll get most of the guys I train strongman with to do it too...so maybe 5/6 more?

Thanks Martin, I'm just basing it on what events I'd like to do myself.

Stephen, I'll put up a proper thread when I've confirmed events and date. shouldn't be any limit on numbers though, can comfortably accomidate 20

anyone know how I can enforce the intermediate aspect of the competition?

If everything works out I'll run a similar competition in the new year for opens but with much heavier weights.

Between Stephen and me we will know anyone who is above the level, and you can tell them to get f**ked Happy

To be fair though, other than the top few at the weekend, everybody could do an inter

I'd be up for this as would another couple of guys from Aberdeen potentially, Dunno if I would be allowed to enter an intermediate comp but if so fire my name down for it.

And also, just my opinion but I wouldn't like stones for height, mainly because I am only wee but I suppose it would be ok to see a different event.
Avatarsteve32
just saw 24th ,stick ma name down please
nitemairs
Great looking comp, but have to agree on the stones! Heavier stones with normal platforms is much better. Strongest will win anyway

Arm over arm looks amazing. Im off to watch it on youtube lol

Think a few at IS would be up for this & heated inside......Grin
