The weights in 120 don't have to be much different to 105s or open qualifiers. The reason it would exist is to not allow the beasts heavier than that to compete in it thus giving the guys anything up to 15 stone or more lighter a more level playing field.

you cant run a 120 cat, and have the weights the same as a 105 cat.....that would be ridiculous!

no reason why it shouldnt be tried. whether there is a room for u120 nationals with qualifiers etc. I would question. but I certainly think one off comps would be viable.

I said "much" different. But as the 105s and open qualifiers aren't much different anyway, it would have to split the 2. Not sure what the numbers are. But the main difference would be to stop 16.5 stone guys going head to head with 30 stone guys.

105 to 120 would have to be at least as different as 90 to 105.

I don't think allowing a 120 class should be used to justify lowering standards in 105.

Controversial maybe, but why not rejig the whole system, ditch 80s and 90s, have an under 100kg, under 125kg then opens. Something along those lines...

Because for over 95% of people the current system works

So on that basis why not have a u105 u110 u115 u120 u125? That way everyone can compete at the weight they deem most natural.

I am not advocating that at all.

I just personally think that 105kg is pretty light to have the final weighted catagory when top open guys can be 200kg+

Whether it be 120, 130, whatever, I think something in between 105kg and 200kg would be a good thing.

There is a big difference between being 120 and able to do the events in open, and being 120 and being competetive in open.

Of course at 120 you shold be able to have a stab at open level weights, but you are less likely to be competetive.

I felt I needed to get heavier to compete, but it would do my health no good. I would like a catagory where i didn't feel I had to be heavier than I am to do anything other than make up the numbers.

Is my opinion based on my own situation, and the fact that it would allow me to be more competetive with guys at my weight, while retaining the chance to go up against the big guys as well? Of course it is Happy

I would say Yes.

Although I'm happy with the U105's right now, A stepping stone up to big heavy opens where people are 150kg+.

If I was down at U80kg i would like the idea of U80, then U90 then U105 as my training progresses and my strength and size increases! A 120KG category seems the next logical step no?!
