Basic british army test for under 30 males is

44 press ups in 2 mins
50 sit ups in 2 mins
1 1/2 mile run in under 10.30

This is why the british army is still considered to be one of the best around.

Not having a dig at you Robbo mate as it's not a bad thing to aim for I just find the recent obsession with U.S Special Forces a bit annoying when we do it betterGrin

I was aiming for the 100+ pressups and sit ups goal mentioned on the article mate which is what they say you should aim for. Doing the minimum would be a bit gay!

But yes your right there is a huge fascination with US special forces. Cant beat the british lads! Just saw the article and thought id try it as i stumbled accross it.

Don't get me wrong Robbo mate, they have some good blokes and some of them are very fit and good at what they do. I just think that the standards for what they term as "Elite" forces is a bit soft.
When i was a bit younger and fitter i'd normaly hit 70 plus press ups and sit ups with time to spare and then run 1 1/2 mile in mid 8 mins. Not that a i can get close to that time now
