Kind of asking for medical input, which is something I tend not to do on the internet, but anyway...

Have discomfort/odd sensation in my right abdomen, if you draw a direct line between the hip bone and the belly button, it's on that line nearer the bellybutton. Just wondering if it's actually more likely a strain, I can't feel anything when I prod the region.

Figured there likely would be a bit of collective knowledge. Seeing doc on Thursday anyway.

When you cough do you feel any unusual movement like something trying to burst through?

If theres no protruding lump then I don't think it would be a hernia. Mine felt like a very small balloon under then fat and i could push it in, but then it would come popping back out by itself or if i coughed. Probs just tight hip flexers in your case.

There is absolutely NO need for there to be a lump for it to be a hernia.

I have one on my lower left abdomen. I had a lump, but pushed it back in. Surgeon gave me the choice of surgery. I couldnt afford the time off work so I still have it. Causes me very few problems now but will I will probably get it meshed back together at some stage.

A hernia s where an organ protrudes through the wall of the cavity around it.

So by definition it is a protruding, can you push it back in?

The potrusion only has to occur for an instant in order for it be a hernia though. So there doesn't need to be a lump or permanent potrusion for it be a hernia.

Maybe my lack of medical education is restricting my ability to communicate what I mean here.

The problem with the hernia is the protrusion, but that is caused by a hole or tear in your abdominal wall. Without the tear you cant have the protrusion, they dont repair the protrusion, they repair the hole. If you had a lump, pushed it back in, you still have the hole.

I have ZERO idea if any of you have hernia. I know I have one because the doctor told me so.

Are they going to fix it? I know with my hernia it just worse as time passed, until the point that the protrusion was in my nutsack.

Can they heal without surgery? I think I have heard that they can.

Cuddles - does yours ever give you any discomfort?

From where the source of the sensation seems to be, it seems an odd place to get a hernia.

I had a hernia, lower right side, didnt give me any grief bit got it sorted sharpish. Keyhole surgery (3 little scars) and a bit of mesh later and voila... right as rain. I'm like a s**t wolverine.

Recovery about 1 week before you can start light again and for ne about 4 before I was confident to go 'heavy'.
