Just because your lifts ain't good! Doesnt mean your a novice though!

You could be training for 10 years and done 20+ comps

But only have a 200deadlift n 120kg squat ect ect

So is this a novice?? I have no idea!

The line I went down was....

Start training January 09
Reading novice august 09 8th
U105 north qualifiers 2010 19th??

But didn't want to class myself as a novice because I thought I knew alot about training ect

My lifts was still dog s**t lol

I

Where do they go then? If they are not good enough to place in novice they will get pissed on at inter or open. Are you saying that after this point they cant compete?
Surely it has to be based on weighs you can lift and comp placings not number of comps.
I placed top 3 in a couple of novices, so followed what is generally said, and didn't do any more and went to the Scottish instead. If I had never done well at novice I would have stayed in novice comps till i was strong enough, or realised I never would be and given up.

I don't know... inters... national qualifiers.... a novice should be about someone who is inexperienced (IMO).... if you're experienced but relatively s**t... you've s**t out! (not you, I mean anyone lol)... look at me, I won a Novice... but came eight at a national qualifier for under 90s... tough for me. doesnt mean i should be a novice still.

I think it is about finding your level and trying to improve from there.

If you can go to a national U90 qualifier and do well then there is no need for you to do novice, but if you weigh 115kg and are not strong enough for inters where do you compete. If you are doing well in a load of novices then of course you should be forced up, but solme will never be able to do so.

I know that novice implies lask of experience. Maybe the terms are wrong. Would colour coded levels like the US make more sense? Then there is no issue of experience, only being good enough to lift in the event you do

f**k novice blah blah blah....no-one knows what the f**k they mean anymore

It would be far simpler IMO to label comps

Light Open
Intermediate Open
Heavy Open

Then have the weight cat comp

Light open - 200-220dl reps, 90-105 OH, et cetc
Intermediate - 220-260 reps, 105-120 OH etc
Heavy - 280+ dead, 120-40 OH etc

roundabout weights

yeah but the thing with that JC, is that "Light Open Champion" is hardly a great tag to have to your name lol... it's meant to be heavy, and who's light is light?

I dunno, there should just be some continuity between the major promotors.

what do you mean "whos light is light"

No-one would disput 200 DL, 100KG OH is light would they?

And you say its meant to be heavy........200KG DL is to 95% of the population

i mean exactly that.... just because 95% of the population think 200kg DL is heavy doesn't mean it is in strongman terms . it's first timers weight basically.

so their idea of heavy... isn't heavy in our terms.. so who decides?
